Famed for their legendary upbeat sound and tough construction, the JBL Control One speakers are a true classic.

Rugged design for flexible placement
Tough and rugged cabinets make these speakers ideal for commercial and harsher environments. Unlike wooden speakers, these polypropylene moulded speakers won’t rot, crack or deteriorate, making them ideal for use in pool areas, bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories and commercial applications. Rounded edges with protective ‘bumpers’ protect both speakers and surroundings.

Powerful sound
JBL have a long history of producing punchy studio monitors and the Control 1 speakers reflect that sound tradition. Titanium-laminate tweeters matched to 100mm woofers provide a bright, forward sound that is ideal for cutting through background noise, again making these speakers ideal for commercial use in bars, cafes and shops.

Magnetic shielding
Magnetic shielding means that these speakers can safely be used at close range to magnetically vulnerable areas. If you have precious reel-to-reel, cassette, video or other taped media, these speakers can safely be placed alongside. The shielding also protects against picture distortion on older CRT TVs and display systems.

Wall-mounts included
Supplied with flexible wall-mounts, the Control Ones can be mounted high up and out of the way but also angled downwards to direct the sound. Flexible ball joints give a wide range of directionality. Safety wires, in case of mount failure, are also supplied.

A legendary speaker that’s available at a competition-busting price, thanks to your friends at Richer Sounds!

I prefer an established manufacturer.

It is, weirdly.
Excellent speakers, would be on 'sale' at triple the money under a more premium brand.

How are they hooked to a PC? Which amp do you use to connect?
These or Diamond 9.0's does anyone think please?

I would like to know the Answer to this, tempted to buy the sound bar too
The older versions were better, some corners have been cut on the current ones but at this price, you can't go wrong.
They have been this price for a while at richer sounds, truly outstanding value. I thought a set last time they was on here and one of the cheap micro 200w micro amps from Amazon and the sound is now fantastic on my tv.
Anyone know if these speakers would be classed as an improvement to add as front L + R speakers on the Logitech Z906 surround system?

Hi Mate, What amp did you go for? I wanted to get an all in one soundbar but they seem to be hit and miss. Didnt want a separate sub. These speakers look good. Do they provide decent high/mid/low end sound with bass?
Can these be connected to the TV in place of a soundbar?

Is that a 20w/ch amplifier? Wouldn't that be under powered for these speakers which have recommended power of 50W?
I've been seeing comments on audio forums about avoiding low power amplifier with higher powered speakers. hence the question
As with all speakers, they need to be listened to in your home environment. Speakers can sound different in different rooms/ positions. Good as they are, I doubt they will give good enough bass to please most people.

I've used these in the past without a sub and bass was decent just low range where they struggled. They are not just for music as they are classed well for AV sound stage.
I tried a more expensive set of speaker at richer sounds and it didnt had the bass needed for movies and gaming. These are more for listening to music and maybe part of a home theater setup with a dedicated woofer for movies etc.

Ah ok. Thats a no go then. Seeing you sound like you may know a bit about these types of speakers. Do you know of any bookshelf speakers that have a built in amp that you would recommend that provide what Im looking for? Thanks in advance.
If I get a bk subwoofer around £300-350 would it be okay or would you need more expensive speakers to match the subwoofer?

They are not. Not unless the soundbar has 2 outputs, processing and amplification for additional surround speakers.

trancemitter22/08/2019 10:41

Can these be connected to the TV in place of a soundbar?

No. You need external amplification. You can connect them if you buy a cheap AVR or Stereo Amp and connect it using optical to the TV. TV > AVR/Amp > Speakers.

These JBL were £49 a couple of months ago at RS. I bought a pair because I wanted to move my PC speakers (Q Acoustic 3010) downstairs to a new AV setup.

I thought the JBL would be fine as my PC speakers but I hated them. I listen to hard rock and these JBL had no bass punch. They made music sound boring. I ended up selling them and getting another pair of Q Acoustic 3010 which are probably the best speakers you can get for £99.
