Another decent little offer at Richer Sounds, this time on a pair of JBL Control speakers. I can't see them anywhere near this price elsewhere and with the 6 year cover they seem good value overall.

Rugged design for flexible placement
Tough and rugged cabinets make these speakers ideal for commercial and harsher environments. Unlike wooden speakers, these polypropylene moulded speakers won’t rot, crack or deteriorate, making them ideal for use in pool areas, bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories and commercial applications. Rounded edges with protective ‘bumpers’ protect both speakers and surroundings.

Powerful sound
JBL have a long history of producing punchy studio monitors and the Control 1 speakers reflect that sound tradition. Titanium-laminate tweeters matched to 100mm woofers provide a bright, forward sound that is ideal for cutting through background noise, again making these speakers ideal for commercial use in bars, cafes and shops.

Magnetic shielding
Magnetic shielding means that these speakers can safely be used at close range to magnetically vulnerable areas. If you have precious reel-to-reel, cassette, video or other taped media, these speakers can safely be placed alongside. The shielding also protects against picture distortion on older CRT TVs and display systems.

Wall-mounts included
Supplied with flexible wall-mounts, the Control Ones can be mounted high up and out of the way but also angled downwards to direct the sound. Flexible ball joints give a wide range of directionality. Safety wires, in case of mount failure, are also supplied.

Thanks @NeoTrix just what I was looking for.

They won't face down. The mount is near the speaker centre. Great monitors though. I have them as a second set in the dining room.

Thanks. They're quite a bit bigger than I thought!
They'd have been good but really do need them to point quite far down so don't think they'll work for me

I was thinking along the same lines but my preference was to have them upward firing on top of floorstanding speakers but that arrangement is not possible..
Ordered !!! Thanks !!! If only a gold flamdeer would show up now !!! Thanks !!

I have four of the Pro version mounted in my pelmet for Atmos duties, brilliant speakers, and exceptional value at this price. I made up suitable brackets so they are pointing downwards. IIRC there is a single bolt hole in the back, I think the thread is Imperial rather than metric, but may be wrong.

Would work as front height speaker in atmos set up
These good for using for parties etc? What kind of set-up would people suggest? And what else should I buy?

Thanks
Does anyone recommend a good amp for this? It's only for my PC so it doesn't have to be amazing
Wasn't it this price in summer?

May be better to wait until black friday if you can
Excellent, thanks. Heat.
Great price for good small speakers. Bought ! Thanks for the heads up.
Would these be any good as two speakers for my Macbook? Currently using some very old and crappy speakers with a sub. Any worries about lack of bass? And anyone have ideas for a simple amp? I've seen those small ones you can get off Amazon, something like this: amazon.co.uk/SA-…49/
Don't be fooled, monitor speakers? all I could hear was the cabinets resonating. Back in the box, never to be used again, unless I can be bothered to rehouse the drivers.

FiiO E10K is a good usb amp.

I use the SMSL SD739ii for my JBL 305s.

Pretty sure they have an amp built in, so you don't need one.

Nope, these are mainly used as monitor speakers and need an amp to drive them. I've used them in the studio 30 years ago, and currently we have a set of 4 in our pub providing the audio for it.

Atmos needs to be ceiling or Dolby up-firing. These speakers won’t give you proper Atmos.

All you need to do is position and mount them correctly, I have four of the Pro version in my cinema room and they perform Atmos duties perfectly.

Can you connect these speakers to a TV? OLED? How are they powered?

Like any other traditional speaker they require an amplifier to power them, they cannot be run directly off a TV.
