We have one as a lease car, its OK for the price we pay. As its basically a Fiat, I wouldn't want to pay nearly £15k to own it and its depreciation.

0% pcp though so you have the option of not owning it.

Assuming you got an incredible lease deal of £150 a month with no deposit or fees that's still over £5k for 3 years, will this depreciate more than 30% of purchase price (50% off rrp) in 3 years? No one knows but it would be close.

I did, but it doesn't tell you much as there are very few old enough, only 3 of this model at all and they are asking prices not sold prices.

But given all of the above, if we are using the AutoTrader method then this car will not depreciate £5k+ in 3 years.

Excuse my ignorance here, I understand from a cost perspective but if the engine is "below average" is there any point?

Not the best sales patter is it? Possibly one reason it is going so cold. 'Buy this car, with a below average engine' said no car salesman ever.

In order for there to be an average some have to be better, some have to be worse.

Just trying to offer some advice based on my limited experience. Its not terrible having driven it in a couple of different applications in the fiat group (although not this one).

If the engine is the most important thing about a car then this would not be the car for you, even at this price point. If the engine is a means to an end it's acceptable.

I'm not a car salesman, I'm impartial as to if anyone takes the deal or not so it was an impartial assessment of the car.

I mean sure some folk aren't bothered about speed and output but it's just dead money imo buying a car with a sub-par engine and doesn't make sense, you're only going to get bored with the lack of power and struggle in some cases to travel up certain roads.

I know it's non-comparable but my missus father had a Susuki SUV, similar to this and he sold it after the lack of power, he now has a Kuga.

I've always wanted a Merc A-class and took the A180d out for a test drive, after that I've been looking at other cars. It was just terrible performance wise. Looks were gorgeous but I didn't see the point in buying it just for the looks when it couldn't even give me a bit of umph. I got in my fiesta and it was obvious that the engine was not the best.

Again, non-comparable examples I know but it shows how you can go to loving a car due to it's looks and then hating it due to it's power output.

I suppose being petrol it won't be that bad but It just doesn't seem worth it for £15k.

Batman approves.

I may have made it sound worse than it is, there will be very few roads it will struggle to get up, 150 nm of torque is a reasonable amount and as it's naturally aspirated ( a rarity) so you aren't waiting for a turbo to kick in to get your tourque. I think your comparisons are fine and highlight an important point when spending that much money, do the research, take a test drive, be aware of what your getting. My opinion of the engine is just that, my opinion, and some people will think it's more than adequate and some people will think it's awful. I just thought it was below average. But if someone spent about £15k on the last new car they bought (in the last few years) then I think they would be pleasantly surprised by what this offers.

We have the Jeep renegade, longitude, it's an excellent car but ours is the diesel. This seems like a good price.

That is probably the sweet spot of price/spec/engine in the range from memory of looking at them when they first came out. I looked at leasing one last year (can't remember if it was longitude or limited) but at the time they were giving yetis away so went for one of those for the family wagon instead. Happy with the yeti but a renegade in the right colour looks a million times better.

This is, without doubt, one of the most cringeworthy products I have ever seen on here.

Its up (down?) there with the SheWee that pops up from time to time.

Does anyone have the pcp finance figures?

tried to follow link but figures arent shown
