JET GARAGES - Diesel @ £1.28 per litre

Found 21st May 2014
I had just filled up at Sainsbury's in Redditch and noticed this price when taking a detour back from there. Petrol was £1.26 but I thought £1.28 for Diesel was good considering I'd just filled up on £1.32 per litre.

Can't comment on the fuel quality as I've only ever Jet twice.

Its been 1.28 for a while now, I always fill up if I'm passing. Never had any issues with the quality, sometimes they can have a low stock and you have to queue for just 1 or 2 pumps.

If I had seen it on the way I would have filled up, sods law really. The only Jet garage near me is about 4 miles away and the BP is 2 so I never get to see the Jet prices normally.

I didnt even know Jet still exist... none near me!

How do i locate these mysterious garages?

I think they are like the room of requirement from Harry Potter in that they only appear when you really need them...

good price but poor quality fuel

what's poor about it?

Im guessing it could be a pot luck on fuel quality, I run my 530d with no issues at all.

It's only poor when they shove the additives in. The fuel all comes from the same refineries.

no better or worse than supermarket fuel.
chuck some wynns or redex in to make the mix similar to the premium types (shell nitro etc)

Thanks for that, will be able to swing by on the way home! It was 131.9p this morning when I drove by!

I bet all the evidence has gone up in smoke!

Sainsburys in Redditch normally has the cheapest in Redditch. If this is the Jet garage near the Meadow Farm pub then they do price cut days I believe twice a week but the price does vary.
Heat added though good price.

jet is now murrco in most areas. just a change in name. Jet is really good and I prefer it to some other brands.

You don't seem to add proof in your pictures? ?

Cheapest diesel in Tyne and Wear is £1.329 per litre according to the national fuel monitoring website I can't remember the name of, haven't seen diesel this cheap for about 5 years. Believe the posted price when I see it. Unleaded at £1.289 per litre is believable and typical of Tyne and Wear.

I add Millers to all my diesel - seems to level the playing field between the brands. Without it, Jet is very average, I get best results from Esso and BP on my MK7 GTD. It doesn't especially like Shell but my last car (VW Scirocco TDI) preferred Shell over everything else (5% better mpg and noticeably livelier).

Prove it - troll!

I think that Jet garage in Redditch does cheap fuel 2 days a week (although it never says which days!)

The BP near me does cheaper fuel twice per week but it only goes to £132.9. Still good but only brings it inline with asda etc

Not a national deal. Drove past a Jet garage last night and diesel was £134/litre

I paid 133 at Jet Studley yesterday :-(

Do you own research. Im not doing it for you

1. Fuel does not come from all the same refineries.
2. BP / Shell alike have additives in their fuel to improve the quality.

£130.9 at this station today.

But I didn't make the outrageous (but predictable) claim in the first place. I have no reason to think that it's inferior. Very happy to feed my £50k motor on it.

Im not sure whats more sad, the fact that you mention you have a "50k" motor, or the fact i dont believe you.

Seriously though, i am very happy for you too

Frankly I don't give a **** whether you believe my RR Evoque cost that or not but the point is I'll happily put Jet fuel in it if it's a bit cheaper. Back to your original post - what evidence is there to support your outrageous claim that it's inferior fuel? I say again - troll!

1. Agreed, the additives do help, but they can also decrease the quality as well depending what they put into it.
2. Not saying all fuel is sourced from one single refinery, but i'm sure there is no single refinery that just supplies one supplier.

Simple source. therevcounter.co.uk/gen…tml

inb4: single source not accurate.

Personally, the best fuel consumption I've ever had was from Esso and Shell in my Puma which normally drank fuel like it was leaking if I used anything else. The Esso fuel lasted longer than the fuelsave stuff though.

Just filled up with super unleaded at jet station in Horbury. £1.59. What a rip off. Won't be going back. EVER
