Try your local hire places, I get excavators from a local place, last time I used their 1.5t machine, they delivered it full of fuel Friday afternoon complete with 3 buckets, and collected the following Monday for £150 Inc. Vat. Just had to top the tank up before return but being on a farm with red diesel the cost was minimal. You'll find weekend hire far more reasonable (as trade tend not to use them at weekend) and it allows you time to familiarise yourself with the controls without the same time constraints as they do take a couple of hours find your coordination.

You will also find that many builders merchants don't have alot of hire equipment in branch, so they have to get from other companies.

I couldnt agree more, i always try to support locally if I can. I just couldnt find anywhere that got close to this price.

Best to use small independent companies. These prices are inflated so that they can give trade customers a so called discount. I can reccomend Eros hire tools. They show all their prices on their website. A local delivery is only £10.

Heavy Duty Woven Geotextile Membrane £33 @ Jewson
Ideal for use on driveways.
Avatardeleted1803597Get deal*Get deal*

These membranes vary dramatically in quality - and price. Buy an inadequate one and you're not only wasting your money - you're also wasting the time you'll spend digging it up and replacing it when it's failed. I can recommend wholeheartedly the fabrics sold by these guys: (ebay - same firm) No connection, obviously, but they're a trustworthy firm, they know what they're talking about, and they sell good quality hardwearing UV resistant fabric at fair prices. Talk to them first, though, before deciding what's best. Ours has been down for more than 10 years, without any problem at all - just cut into it where you want plants to grow through it.

I got this for under gravel for area with very low traffic and the weeds still come through easily plus tears appear without much persuasion. I wouldn't bother for drive purposes. Light garden use maybe at a push.

Cheaper on ebay

This is one of those random deals that has popped up just at the right time - thanks OP (y) 🏻

Speak to local branch for best deal. Also consider if you need it delivered.Hss charge as much to deliver as the hiring of the goods. My local jewsons charge about a fiver to drop and collect .

Eros hire tools are doing good deals for the easter weekend. Prices are good and decent equipment.

I find it hard to believe this is 50% off. Even with 50%, the prices online are about £1-2 cheaper per week than local tool suppliers. Who would pay £130 to hire a whacker for a week???

Wouldn't touch jewsons or HSS with a barge pole.

If your going to hire a sander, find a local company that hire the make Bona. They are pretty much dust free, the ending belts don't break. The standard floor Sanders from Brandon and the other big names are pretty much a waste of time. The sanding belts break very easily and they cover your house in dust. Go for bona, don't waste a dust filled weekend with the other rubbish.

Expired yesterday this code but still works. Ordered. Thanks!

For me as well. Very cheap if you live in a nice area.

Didn't even get that email. After spending this morning speaking to them, they cannot confirm whether or not it will be in store today. I spoke to store and head office more than once.

Don't blame you! I was thinking of doing a click and collect but I'm glad I didn't now! My Nest was delivered next day no problem but the only email I received was the one confirming my order was placed. Nothing stating when it was posted or scheduled to arrive.

Snow shovel £1.20 @ Jewsons loughborough (was over £10)
Be prepared. I saw these in the loughborough branch. Not sure if national.

Ive got snowhere to store it.

Lowest price ever. Good deal if it fits your needs.

There is no way these are/were worth £10. All the super markets had them at Xmas for under £10 which they then reduced to £1.50 to £2.50 when we had no snow . Could be handy for clearing out Duck Houses and sweeping up brown envelopes or honours reward letters .

Has James Madden started his record breaking winter crap yet, you know predictions of the worst winter ever, 90 days of 20 foot snow drifts. He usually starts predicting it around the end of August, and the Daily Express will do their usual sensationalist headlines. Shovel might come in handy.

Nice find OP, been looking for one of these on the cheap for shovelling up the little ones toys!

Hi, cheers for the reply, I am looking around at the moment as I have a big order to place in the the next few weeks but not sure who to go with.

Capelli - I have and it is good quality turf, laid it over a month ago and it has taken well and is still lush green, even with the kids playing on it. Jewson pass the order to Rolawn who pass the order to one of their local suppliers, they contact you with a delivery time/date.

Did anyone order this and can comment on their experience and the product etc?

golfyboy - if your only covering 1m2 then better off using seed.

Possibly but now I have mine without paying up front I am already monitoring my energy use and cutting back accordingly (including remotely) thus usage over the year will be less.

Comment The Hive thermostat connects to a hub which is plugged into your router wirelessly. Your old Honeywell stat is just linked out. Hive also has Geolocation which notifies you if you want your heating on or have left it on when you leave home.

Why do the links take you to Edf and British Gas?

Thanks for the replies/comments reference the Hive unit - currently I have a manual Honeywell thermostat in the hallway which seems to work ok (although looks a bit basic/a little dated I guess!) Would the Hive unit just connect here, on the existing wires/circuit? Thanks.

I think the main reason is the location sensing, so it will know when you are close to home and heat your house up but that can be done on the nest with a little work.

2 we have are fantastic can't fault them at all. Had them for about 6 months with no bother. I love the light the way function in the night.

Spent £1500 on getting nine of these fitted, my family don't bat an eyelid anymore to an alarm sounding. False alarms in the middle of the night, unable to silence alarm here messages. Luckily the next door neighbours aren't often around. Returned loads, got two more waiting to go back. Good customer service, unreliable product. Thermostats great though.

Had one for 8 months without issue and have just installed another one. I'd happily recommend. Keep an eye on eBay for bargains, I got my first one for £70 incl del. and the second for £75.20, incl del.

We've had two of the battery ones for the last year and not had a single false alarm or any other issue so I'd happily recommend them.

These have a terrible reputation. Even Nest's own employees slate them.
