This deserves more heat

I have purchased several of these from fleabay for friends and family.
They are great and can be got for a lot less than a tenner.

A quick scan reveals £4.25 delivered with same specs (dimensions and weight load)

ALDI are doing this one for a £1 cheaper tomorrow if you're not worried about the name

aldi.co.uk/uk/…htm

Looks like smallest version suitable only for compact cameras, not DSLRs...

I've seen some pictures of people using these as cheap portable ipad/tablet stands.

as you probably know they are not joby brand and the quality is not as high but the quality of the cheaper ones is still good enough to do the job they were intended.
if you are going to buy one for your digital compact i would go for cheaper version but if you were thinking of of getting one for a SLR then get the sturdier joby

It's not the same product...

ah nuts just got mine the other day from play for 12.99!

The cheaper ones are great for use with off camera flashes.

I have one of these, they are great. Waiting for a good offer on the DSLR version.

There are a lot of fakes on ebay though, although some are pretty good. Bought one for my dslr for £12.99 on there, but this is a good price for the original.

thanks,nice find

ordered one --- looks useful

I had an eBay one and it fell apart, luckily my gear wasn't damaged, but if you are going to put something expensive on it I think you are better off investing a couple of extra quid in an original.

Im needing a joby!

bought, thanks!!

This also happened to me with a cheap imitation from ebay.

Will this fit the Panasonic Lumix FZ38? Halfway between a compact and a DSLR!

My daughter has one, and would love one of these tripods.

Yes, I've just posted pointing out the 7dayshop version, (which I think might be all she needs), but I already own a Gorillapod and use it quite happily with a Lumix TZ10.
PS I just looked at the FZ38, I didn't realise it was so big, should still be OK though. I've also used my G-pod with a Canon SLR.

The smallest Gorillapod's really are only suitable for compact cameras - and reasonably lightweight ones at that. The next version up (ironically called the SLR, though again only really for the lighter ones with a prime or short zoom) is much more secure for heavier compacts and 'bridge' cameras.

And yes 'ungreat', they are also handy as desk stands for tablets!

Piccy

I'm guessing that mine is the SLR model and not the one being advertised, can't remember, I've had it a while.

Thanks for the replies :-) Ordered and heat added!

I have a wee Joby (original) and 3 copies bought off eBay from HK for ~ £3.85 each inc. p+p and I have to say they're just as good and perhaps better - the top mounting plate of the original Joby is a looser fit and consequently rocks slightly. They're almost identical apart from the logo

These are not up to the job of supporting a bridge camera such as an FX38, but are fine for say a TZ10 or a personal camcorder (Zx1, Vado, Flip etc.).

Good price if you must have an original

Poundland also sell a similar version for err £1

Dispatched on 10th ---- still no sight of it.

Internet shopping is a game of roulette at this time of year!
