Normal Double (non storage) available for £200 here http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-odyssey-bedstead-grey-double/p231770692

King Size storage here for £300 johnlewis.com/joh…691

was £1099! Yea rightttt

they pulled out of the contract the last time this was on offer, and it was assembled by the delivery men

Says comfy, that would depend on the mattress you buy to put on it I guess

The double with storage was apparently previously priced at £1

The wooden slats on these kind of beds are like toothpicks.

looking at the pics, seems like the same ottoman sold on ebay and elsewhere just rebranded to JL with a lame cloth cover.

A bed is a bed.

The only thing similar is that they're both Ottoman storage beds.

Thanks for posting. I'm after a new Kingsize Ottoman bed.
@KL88 The Kingsize also said previously £1, well on my iPhone at least. On my iPad it said reduced from £1099.

The fabric looks well dodgy in the pictures. I'd rather an Amazon one with decent reviews for £150

Fabric on product just doesn't sit well according to pictures

Ugly little bed.

Yes, but this is also not a £1000+ bed...

About the right price now.

"With loose fabric covers and stylish and attractive design"

The loose fabric look is intended it seems.

5 year JL warranty?

Was this really worth £1099 and even worth £275 or £300? At this price, I would be able to buy an excellent rated ottoman storage bed for a top rated ebay seller or amazon.

Its JL - im taking gamble been looking for these and was about to go down amazon route. If I dont like it might just send it back.

Good price and I actually ordered one while I mulled it over, but then cancelled when I thought about it. John Lewis do offer great customer service but there's nothing special about this as a bedstead, better to spend £130-150 on one on amazon then spend more on a good mattress.

Since we use memory foam mattresses we change ours to a flat non slatted base anyway. Cheap swap and the mattress performs better anyway. Can be an advantage on other types of decent mattresses swell.

How do you swap to a flat non slatted base? Piece of wood?

Makes sense...

Just off to eat a doughnut to comprehend what you have said. Make mine a latte - 7 sugars.

had another look (I bought an ebay one and assembled myself)
these have the same cheap plywood slats and plastic fittings. the frame is the same as mine, only material differs.
plus the gas lift is a different colour!!

Can anyone suggest a good and cheap place to buy pocket sprung mattress with memory foam? Any links?
I found this on Amazon but with no reviews hence reluctant to buy

plus look carefully at the 8th slat in this image:

you can see the (lack of) quality!

Lol... Must have been taken after the delivery men put it together!

Had this bed, or very very similar and didn't last 2 years.

Ordered this in January when the white in double was posted.... but it got cancelled a week later due to no stock! and no more due back in

It looks cheap and It probably is cheap. Previously priced at over £1000.00 who are they kidding?? I'm disappointed that John Lewis are getting on the band wagon of selling cheap products at such a high price.

Was just looking at one on Groupon - 3500 pocket sprung with memory foam. Seemed a very good price but no reviews,

slats look like they are all slotted in upside down

20 years ago I worked for Habitat and assembled a lot of furniture for customers and shop displays; it amazed me how many people put the slats in the other way up as you're suggesting and how many of them were then surprised when the slats fell out when they got into bed.

Yes, they should be higher in the middle so they can bend flat (if that makes sense) when you lie on it. If they are lower in the middle you and your partner will roll apart and then fall through the bed (into separate storage compartments) when the slats bend!
