The problem with their site is it doesn't list if the phone has a LOUDSPEAKER function.

Thats essential for me

Ok I've trawelled the web and found that all of their own brand handsets DON'T have loud speakers, so don't buy one if you're hoping for that.

The other models, e.g. panasonic do, however they're no cheaper than elsewhere on the web - and possibly even more expensive!

Thanks, would've been tempted otherwise.

Would have thought £15-£20 was more the mark for a digital phone with answerphone.
Ok you get a 3 year warranty, but if the phone was going to go wrong, it would probably be within the first year.

Sorry, which model are you talking about? There are a number of JL branded phones listed, and as far as I could tell, all of those with answerphone do NOT include loud speaker. I did quite a bit of research, but am willing to accept i'm wrong if it's true :-)

This site reviews two of the phones

"John Lewis JLJAS0941 Digital Cordless Telephone with Answer Machine from £49.95
The middle range offering has a 200 name and number memory as well as an answer machine, which stores up to 24 minutes of messages. Key features include a full colour screen, SMS text function, alarm, organiser and two games. The phone also has eight hours talk time, 100 hours standby and speakerphone. Three additional handsets can also be connected to the phone and if you have more than one handset you can use the baby monitor feature."

This could come down to what is a speakerphone funtion and what is classed as a loudspeaker (I don't know and I'm not trying to say that I do).

I think this is the feature Aleina is on about.
Whether you can have a two way conversion through it, or if it is to play back massages/the baby moniter funtion only, I don't know.

It's just the answerphone speaker - it cannot be used for 2 way calling. And besides, the handsets don't have it.

Cheers OP!
