Not yet, when I get some money to burn but that's poor me, good luck to all who could afford, heat from me

They've got the iPad 4 (Retina Display) for £319 with 3 year guarantee.

If anybody bought one within 28 days you can 'return' it for an upgraded warranty, too.

Interesting as I've recently purchased an iPad mini but they've gone back up in price will that mean I'd buy back at higher price?

And a discount on price, plus 3 year applecare is a better service than JL standard warranty. 3 year with JL is still a great deal though if you can't get student discount with apple direct. Heat added.

Must admit, not used the telephone support since getting a mac, but you are right, it is an added extra.

Student discount actually makes a Macbook pretty comparable price to other ultrabooks - when you take the 3yr warranty into account. For ipads though you can usually find better deals elsewhere, prob JL with 3 yr warranty would be better.

I'm a relative newbie to MacBook, so it came in really handy.

Anyone know how they prove you are a student eg do you have to have a .ac.uk email address or something?

Edit - just worked it out, you have to choose the university from a list and will only give you the pricing if you are accessing the Apple site from the university network.

do a google search, there is ways to do it without being a student and they very rarely check (you don't need a .ac.uk email - it's usually done through campus web links but can be done from home). Or if you have an NUS Extra card, you can go through the NUS site.

Where is this, the cheapest I can find is £399

It was there weds - this is not the latest iPad air

Ahh OK thanks for updating me, my mistake thought it was the Air which would have been a bargain.

Are they still doing the 3 year warranty with HE, as I heard on the forums that they don't anymore? But you can get Apple Care for like £40 for an additional 2 years.

I wanted to get a 13" macbook but been hearing hellish stories of screen burn in and the samsung screens having a yellow tint. Not sure what to do.

Yeah, I've been on the other uni sites, was going to get the 13" MBP Retina 2.6ghz and 512GB £1249, but found a better deal on eBay for £769 for a UK (B/A) one (was sealed too). Serial checked out and registered online with full warranty. Can find good deals on eBay but some well dodgy ones too.

Just get one and if you have any issues just take it to the Apple store to sort out.

Is this not obtaining goods by deception - possibly career limiting ?

So anyone think the current Macbook should be ok. Only issue is that if am running a DJ software programme would that not create screen burn as it will be on screen for an hour or so. Guess the only option would be to minimise the screen between mixes?

Apple UK still offer 3 years applecare as standard. This is 3yr hardware support and 1yr telephone support. This is included with all HE student purchases as standard (takes a few weeks for confirmation email of applecare). The £40 for applecare you refer to, is to upgrade the telephone support to 3yrs. Not something I want, but not a bad price if you use it.

I think most of the screen issues were with the 15" models (don't quote me on that though!). I have a late 2013 13" rMBP and had zero issues with the screen, for what it's worth.

I don't think you will have many issues. Many DJ's use them without a problem.

Okay, cool. Is this different when you buy in-store (as read on forums)?

I believe it is, online is slightly diff, I think stores is at their own discretion. My advice if buying a student deal, always buy online via student links.

You are wrong, it is free. you pay 40 quid or so, but it's for technical phone support.

If you are configuring mac, and have option to add apple care, click learn more and you will see:

When I was buying my macbook, i initially got the 1y warranty (checked the serial) so I called the helpline and guy said it would appear in few days (it did in fact). Surprisingly, UK is the only country in the world where students get 3y complimentary warranty (thats what he said).
Thanks

Edit: Sorry not noticed someone already posted that.

Only in the same way that creating a new account with Tesco just to get £10 off for new customers or creating a new family account with Amazon to get 3 months free Prime is.
Can't imagine it would be a prosecutable offence! Worst case I suppose they could charge the difference in price to your payment card if found out.

Oh my bad! Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to cancel the applecare then!! All I was concerned about was the hardware. I don't need phone support!! You've saved me £40

Never take back to the store. I had a new iPad with a cracked screen and they refused to take it back so rang them and complained. Won't buy from Jh again
