Make sure you get a decent mattress for your baby. Been reading up in them lately, and the crap ones are no good.

After checking a load out and testing a few out (not by climbing in the cot lol), I found Ikea's £39 mattress the best. Sprung (better than foam) and 10cm thick (I think the min recommended thickness was 8-9 cm).

Certainly a decent mattress is very important, the main points are to ensure the mattress is an exact fit.. No gaps rounds sides, and to ensure that the mattress is firm, not soft. A decent firm foam mattress is just as good as a firm sprung one. When buying a sprung mattress, the more coil springs the better as it makes it firmer. Some cheaper sprung mattresses have less spings, meaning its too soft. X
