I would recommend this freebie , the cafe at the top of shop in Oxford Street is wonderful.

didn't they change this so you have to prove you were a genuine John Lewis customer?

Nice

Try it and see. Lovely food.

It's not guaranteed any more I'm afraid. It used to be - one a month originally!

But they've back-tracked and cut back until nobody quite knows what criteria they use for sending them out. It's very hit-and-miss.

But I agree - doesn't hurt to be in with a chance. You'd be very unlucky not to get at least one on sign-up.

If my family is any gauge, everyone got the drink and cake voucher for use in January, but over the last year I'm fairly sure we averaged about 50% of the voucher mailing having the same deal (some one mailing, some the next) with other useless vouchers mixed in between.

When it first started they gave you 4-5 months continuos vouchers ..now a few a year , still nice bit of cake and latte for free so worth joining

I'd echo what others are saying - years ago it was regular as clockwork, now it's rare as hen's teeth. Can't remember the last time they sent any vouchers. I wouldn't bother.

I joined just after Christmas and with my welcome letter I received my free drink and cake voucher, worth a try for nothing.

Yep, can't remember the last time we got anything through and we spend quite a bit in John Lewis - just the last 3 months include a Galaxy S6 and Mulberry purse as big ticket items, plus plenty of other Christmas items.

In fact, just last weekend I overheard a lady who has just bought something saying she forgot to use her John Lewis card and could the points be put on. The staff member quite openly said she wouldn't be losing out because 'it isn't a rewards system, it's just for targeted marketing and digital copies of receipts'.

also when buying at John Lewis if you scan your card then your receipts, guarantee and warranty is stored online in your account so even if you lose your paper receipt you still have proof of purchase

John Lewis Oxford St is their flagship store. There is a cafe on the 2nd floor and one on the 5th floor.
The one on the 2nd floor is at the back of the store and is smaller. The one on the 5th floor is more spacious and I agree it is very nice there.Food is nice as well.I go there whenever I'm in London.
John Lewis cafe in Bluewater is also very large and spacious and from the large windows you can
view outside. It is also very nice there.
John Lewis cafe Brent X is smaller and feels more claustrophobic. It has no windows to look outside to.
Not been to the newish John Lewis in Birmingham yet,so can't comment on wok the cafe is like there.

Yep,they've been a bit stingy.
Last time they send me only one voucher, which was suppose to last for about 6 months.:(
Considering also that I have to opt in to receive all their junk emails.:(

The John Lewis cafe in Cardiff has horrible food yet I can't for the life of me understand why it is so busy. Their cakes are dry. And their drinks are yuck. Does anyone else feel the same about Cardiff John Lewis?

Has been 10 years plus since I've been in that store!!
When John Lewis celebrated their 150 years anniversary, they opened the roof gardens above the 5th floor cafe to the general public. From there you can look down onto Oxford St and across London.
There was also a John Lewis through the years exhibition at the back of the store.:)

thanks kathy will try that when next in London
. Also the Birmingham one is great by the train station - brand new and very nice - very spacious and olde worlde with views over the city.Staff lovely and cake choice better than anywhere I've visited.
My local Ipswich one is dire - they have a yum yum if you're likely hardly ever any carrot cake or sandwich cake.

I presume Ipswich is a smaller store.
Don't worry, there is a large selection of cakes to choose from at Oxford St (go to the one on the 5th floor).:)
I'll check out the Birmingham Moor St store if I'm ever in Brum.

never heard about free cakes, been member for more then 2 years!

I didn't receive any vouchers for a long while. I emailed them and complained that I spend a lot of money but got no vouchers. They quickly sent me three vouchers for hot drink and cake.

You need the vouchers They usually send you the vouchers out twice a year

Yeh I was in Oxford St but didn't have vouchers on me, didn't fancy it in the end. My vouchers say use by end of September October and November so presumed they sent out more in ny
