You need to call the branch you wish to purchase from...then ask them to contact the branch that have price matched..It normally goes to an under writers dept who do all the leg work...

Hitachi 42PD9700. John Lewis Edinburgh. This was last October and it was £1500(£1999 in JL) back then, the tv is a lot cheaper now:-(.

However this was done by email and telephone. Then took the letter into the store.

John Lewis will not price match internet prices in there stores.

You are absolutley correct.
They will however match prices of stores that have the stock on display and is priced.
Empire direct are considered one of the cheaper online retailers and have stores carrying stock in store..This is how i was able to get a price match..

I posted this a week or so ago, I was looking for the Samsung PS42Q7HD at the best price I could find, I also wanted a decent guarantee or extended warranty. This is on sale at John Lewis for £949.00 with a free 5 year guarantee.

The best price from a web site is Beyond Television - £747.99 inc delivery (+ at least £100? for a 5 year warranty)

beyondtelevision.co.uk/thi…698

Best price from an actual store is £768.00 from Martin Dawes (+ Delivery at £30? + 5 year warranty at £249.00)

John Lewis price matched it for me this afternon at £798.00 delivered (inc a free 5 year parts and labour guarantee)

I went into the store and gave them the details, they contacted the store and wrote me a letter confirming the price and offering me the TV at the matched price (took about a week to hear from them)

You can do it by email from the link on the JL web site.
They will price match any store* that has the item in stock and the price is displayed. This includes sale prices. The store does not have to be in your town either. They reduced the price of my TV by nigh on £400 to match the Comet sale price.

* There are some retailers that have web sites AND a High St presence (usually independent electrical/TV shops), but they still class them as e-stores & so won't price match!

I personally found the response both quick & easy. They rang me after I had emailed, to confirm the PM and I ordered and arranged delivery straight away.

I managed to get JL to price match this with Empire Direct, although I had to insist they phone again as initially they told me Empire Direct were out of stock. Eventually they agreed to the price match and it is being delivered tomorrow.

:-D

if my nearest store is newcastle and i want to price match soundandvision using the trafford store, do i buy from trafford or get newcastle to price match trafford who price match soundandvision

where about is this?

do they sell different tvs in store than on their site?

they havnt got the tv i want on the site.

does this price match only apply to tv's? im looking to buy an x box from john lewis as i have vouchers but the package they have is the premium with WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 game, Project Gotham Racing 3 game and Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged but they still have it priced up high at £299.

Does anyone know where this bundle is priced cheaper and how then i could get a pricematch on it?

Cheers

1982

can anyone help me out with the above?

Find the exact bundle same bundle cheaper in a shop and yes they will price match, the same applies to all electronics. However i think they are losing money as they are about to change their policy so they will only match stores within 10 miles (See thread on av forums - lcd section). Probably because they are losing out to online retailers with small collection and ordering shops like empire direct who are often £100+ cheaper...

i have tried them with matching sound and vision but they refused! Sound and vision are a store with display models though!

Try getting them to match empire direct..They have stores in various locations..
You'll need to do some homework beofrehand however...You'll need to call a ED store closest to you and ask whether they have the particular model TV you are after..Just tell them you'd like to see it in the flesh before purchasing...If the answer is yes, get onto JL (closest one to the ED store) and get them to price match..Exactly what i and hundreds of avforum members have done...
My TV came to £699 delivered (+5 year warranty)...JL have them on their site for £849!

The above site is a really good source of information for all audio visual issues.

May well help you make the correct purchase and a saving in the long run.

Read LCD posts for weeks before taking the plunge.

Went for a Loewe (House of Fraser offer posted on the AVForum) - had never heard of them before, but totally pleased with what I got.

Dont bother with all that...just tell them you want to price match ED for such a price (the price online), dont specify a store. That way they do the leg work of ringing round all the stores if ones out of stock. I just did it via email and got a letter in a few days, they only phone if they cant do it apparently. Just waiting on another to come through, then i can decide between the 2 tvs as i will have price matches in hand when i go in... Note that with price matching they may add the delivery charge onto the price match..
