Today until midnight 4th December John Lewis is matching a competitor’s promotion online and in their shops. Prices have been reduced on over 100 brands across Home and Fashion.

I have requested more information on the timings and how users take advantage of this.

I never think a "retailer" should be comended for finnally reducein there inflated prices just to get some sales, id rather supprt the "retailers" that were selling cheaper in the first place!

I agree, however John Lewis has a reputation for quality customer service and that sometimes is worth paying more for.

They also offer these warranties for free:

• 5 Year guarantee on all televisions
• 2 Year guarantee on all White Goods (Dishwashers, Washing Machines, Tumble Dryers) with 3 Year Guarantee on John Lewis branded electrical appliances
• 2 Year guarantee on all computers, with a free 90-day computer support line.

God it sounds like I am promoting them now! oO

Would they price match Best Buy's promotion on the Onkyo cinema system? Hmm...

It'd be nice if they matched and then went a couple of % cheaper. Just to make the deal worth doing, Or you're more likely to stick with where you found the deal in the first place. Aren't you?

shame they have been charging more on there items until now, and the only reason there doing it now is cos they have no choice due to the current retail climate, and only till 4th dec?? embarrasing!

John Lewis are definitely worth the extra work if it's the same price, their customer service is fantastic.. Friend had problems with TV from M&S, JL were the same price and no probs with them!

Normally this means they are matching a specific competitor i.e. in Liverpool if Debenhams do a sale then they will price match their sale, I don't think it means ALL online stores it will be somebody specific.

Yes the wording is a bit strange, not sure exactly what is going to be price matched, more information as I get it.

They have been matching Debenhams recently on a few items.. It'll be specific stores that they're matching, may be worth a call if you find something cheaper elsewhere though?

"We are matching competitor's events at Debenhams from Tuesday 29 November to Sunday 4 December and at House of Fraser on 1 and 2 December."

NB: I work at JL and this is not store specific.

Their Customer Service is good unless they make a mistake and then it all turns to sh*t - long story will not trouble you with it - but can be very poor

Don't you just love John Lewis? Their executives must have a right easy time - "right lads we ought to come up with some deal or other but we can't be bothered so lets try the old price match wheeze where the customers can go and find a deal themselves and then tell us about it!" What is their motto? Is is John Lewis - never knowingly undersell?

Just asked them to price match Dixons. I wanted to buy Plasma Tv. Lady said they don't do a price match for online retailers!!!

m&s customer service is awful. stuck with unwanted tv because it's £100 to return it! security seals not even been opened :-(

They pretty much always do this do they not? Also, it's usually another department store thats having a sale they pricematch, not just anyone.

"Never knowingly undersold", so JL is admitting it's all BS?
