Made from a trusty combination of solid oak and MDF, this bed frame is built-to-last. Its design celebrates the best of Scandi and industrial styles, with a fusion seen through its clean-lined, minimalist profile and contrasting welded metal legs. We especially like the band sawn finish on the slatted headboard as it adds depth and texture. Plus, sprung slats in the base provide a responsive and supportive foundation for your mattress.

I'd question how much of it was actually Oak. It's an "upgrade" from an Ikea Malm frame.

The bed have issue by review the central support rail week i can see as well from picture
It is holding all weight and any say jump will brake the wood rail easy in the center My king size mattress it self weight around 70 kg not include my weight

The deal I think is good and price ok and John lewis know the issue this why it is so discounted --- but it is easy to fix this bed getting joist timber and screw to middle support rail from both side to make double support and then bed will be ok for all cases

Yeah looks like the support is failing in the middle and not ends which is an easy fix. A 6ft piece of 2 x 4 is about £3 in B&Q and would be easy to fix to the central rail (glue and screw). Should be a sturdy bed then :-)!

Seems to be a response from John Lewis support to say that improvements have been made to central support.

Where did you seen this response?

We purchased this bed - it looks great but the central support & the slats are not of sufficient quality and make horrible/unnerving cracking noises.

As we only shelled out about £250 for it, i'll be upgrading it using IKEA componentry which can be bought separately. It ticked our boxes so don't mind if i end up hitting £350 to have a solid bed.

PS. My wife and i not heavy, I would be nervous if we were......

    When did you bought it

    Ordered - thanks OP.
I wonder if I could put a little vertical support under the middle of the cross member? Or perhaps that would make it too rigid?
    Avatar
Maybe something like this can provide extra support
