Was £20, then £10 & now down to £5, it is instore (well it is where my sil lives) & online, sadly a £2 C+C charge applies, but it is on the whole order not just per item, so if you order a few things it's not too bad I suppose.
Only 1 review but that is 5*.
Choo-choo-choose this super Toy Train Set to get your little rail rompers from A-to-B. This easy-to-assemble John Lewis set would absorb your tot into the fantasy of train travel, complement role play time and maybe even kick-start a scene-building collection.

This set comes with 1 master train carriage and 2 passenger carriages to attach it to. With the round train track, you can choose whether to take the circular route or break off onto the oval tangent.

Work on fine motor skills and give your child a rail network of their very own with this terrific John Lewis Train Set.

Yes be good to know if battery powered engine or you have to push by hand??
Great for the price, but does anybody know yet if it needs batteries?
Can you "Track" your delivery
The one review that has been given is titled 'electric train' if that helps!
Ordered three, that's long track
Hoping it is battery operated/electric if so would be a steal..

Casey Jones steamin and a rollin (showing my age now)
thanks OP. ordered 2. cheers
No reviews on their website for this set and reviews for other John Lewis play sets range from poor to very good. I suspect you get what you pay for.
Great find, ordered 4 as well. Got a number of grandkids so they can run more than 1 train and decide if they want to derail each other. Better than just watching it go round and round.
Thanks Ordered mine! Chou chouuu
Looking at the photo I'm wondering if it's possible to join more than one set together?
It is a bit crap to be honest. The track is literally one loop with a track in the middle. The guy who designed this could not be more unimaginative.

Yea.. But In £ 5 quid you can`t get multi loop. If you need multi loop then multiply £5x ( number of loops )..

Very imaginative for you to think it was a guy that designed it.

Indeed. Terrible assumption to make. That said, if I had to bet........
That £2 to collect in the shop is a bloody rip off

That £2 to collect in the shop is a bloody rip off

What next, charging entry fee into the shop to buy their stuff ?????
I'm sure a child would be chuffed to get this

Wouldn't be chuffed with an electric train
£2 to collect it, do they pay me £2 ?
The £2 charge to collect an item is ridiculous. That's why Argos, with their free reserve and collect, will always do well.
Bought 3 not sure who for yet but I'm sure we can find someone who will like them (If I can part with them although I suspect I'm a bit old)!! BARGAIN!!! Heat Heat Heat
"This set comes with 1 master train carriage and 2 passenger carriages to attach it to."

1 master train carriage being the locomotive? That trumps calling a locomotive a train!

I'd rather pay the 2 or 3 quid to JL or Tesco than to be lied to from Argos managers and their electronic goods sham repairers. For the record, I had my item (had developed a fault after 10 months) repaired from the manufacturer free of charge, after the Argos repair service contractors had concluded "unrepairable user damage". Gave them a chance to come clean but the CEO did not want to know.
ARGOS will not do well from me.
Voted hot btw, OP

Oh no looks like I missed the train.... Like someone else said £2 to collect it in store, whatever next? More money for the partners John......
Reason they charge the £2 for orders under £30 as all the items come direct from Milton Keynes. (Not from shop like Argos) Next day delivery most people spend over £30 anyway.
Has anyone tried it out yet? Is it any good?
