Found Johnson's Cotton Buds 200 Pack at ASDA Colne for 45p - loads available. A great price = 0.2p each! Still priced at 90p online so may be just a store only deal.

These are the new style 'Some of you may have noticed a change in JOHNSON'S® cotton buds recently, from blue plastic to white paper sticks. We have decided to remove the plastic and replace it with 100% paper in support of wider campaigns to protect the environment by reducing plastic waste in our country's rivers and seas. Our decision to switch has been welcomed by environmental organisations.'

Rtc in Thanet

same price in Asda Fosse Park (Leics)

What a lot of rubbish. They are most probably cheaper to produce. Also they haven't changed their normal price elsewhere so you might as well buy a cheaper alternative as they are to soft and bend all the time. Cold

I fully understand why they've changed to paper, but they now terrible.

Yeah, no longer usable imo.

You haven't said what you're using them for though. I probably won't like the answer anyway.

Bought 3 today at Doncaster - looks like it's national - yes the paper ones aren't as strong but still fine for sticking in my ears, cleaning things (usually metal threads) and must be better for the environment I expect.

Hate the new paper ones

Never use anything but your elbow for cleaning your lug'oles as you can damage your ear canal.
That's what a audiologist told me years ago when I told her I used to use these to have a good 'ol dig in my lug'oles, might be why I have 2 hearing aids now, who knows!

I recently bought these cotton buds, it's our brand of choice for the quality and safety (although I know we shouldn't be putting anything in our ears), but the new ones are awful. The quality has dropped significantly, I bought a box of 40p ones from Tesco just for make up purposes and they are far superior to the "new" Johnson's ones (although not quite as comfortable as the old Johnston's blue ones).

Agree with most others, the new paper ones are so flexible that they bend almost instantly. I bought them from Poundworld and actually just thought they were selling a cheap rubbish version of the originals. Didn't realise they were 'new and improved'.

Yup, also dislike the new "improved" version (oh Gods of Marketing). While I appreciate caring for environment I don't like being lied to when it's done to improve profits.

have they used less fluff on the end too
