The Joie Every Stage FX Group 0-1-2-3 Car Seat grows with your child from birth to 12 years. This 4-in-1 convertible car seat adapts to fit your child at each stage, meeting every road safety standard you’ll encounter as your little one grows up.

Designed and engineered to make growing up easy, the Joie Every StageFX Group 0-1-2-3 Car Seat adjusts up and out simultaneously, creating a custom fit for your child. As you raise the headrest through its 10 height positions, the AutoAdjust™ side wings expand for a perfect fit. The harness system matches the setting of the one-hand adjust headset with no re-threading of the 5-point harness. The Every Stage begins as a rearward facing car seat with 2 reclining positions, suitable from birth to 18kg, before converting to a 4-position recline forward facing seat, suitable for use from 9-36kg.

The frame of the Joie Every Stage FX Group 0-1-2-3 Car Seat is reinforced with steel to absorb energy upon impact, while side impact protection keeps yr child safe. The additional protection of Guard Surround Safety™ panels can be individually activated to provide extra room in your vehicle.

Plush cushioning and built-in side ventilation make sure your child travels in comfort. You can even customise the grow-with-me infant body and head support for the ultimate fit in the early stages. Side mesh pockets keep your child’s travel essentials close to hand in this versatile travelling companion.

The Joie Every Stage FX Group 0-1-2-3 Car Seat boasts easy and exact ISOFix and top tether installation when forward facing in group 1, plus ISOSAFE connection to keep the seat securely in place in group 2/3 booster mode. I guess it depends on the people using these seats - we have 2 and both are perfect fit well with the isofix and belt as back up security does not even budge! The belts never twist and the children are seated comfortably and securely every time - have been using 1 for 3 years and the other for just under a year

Horrible car seat. Straps often get twisted inside and it can be nigh on impossible to tighten when child is in it.

Totally agree. The which? Report seems to suggest that the reasons they class this seat as a dont buy is because during tests it “scores poorly in frontal-impact crash tests, when used as a forward-facing Group 1 car seat, or when the Isofix is used” - if you don't use it in this mode its fine.

I have the Joie Stages instead and find it great, came across this picture which might help people choosing between the two..

Think so or is he referring to any cheaper brands.
Great car seat and good price if Stages FX which is the isofix version.
Does anyone know if this can be used with a seat belt only as well? My car does not have isofix but Hubby's car has one

No. You should never buy a second hand one.
As has already been said, it is a Which? Dont Buy model. Shouldn't even be considered.

Whilst that is true, some of the more expensive ones are nicer to use. We have a £50 one (brand name escapes me) which is stages 2 onwards I think and the Stages FX. Ive found the stages to be more padded and it also tilts which is better for the little one when sleeping. The cheaper one is only upright. The Joie also has ISOFIX and feels more secure.

Still use the cheaper one but in a car where it isn't needed as often. No regrets about buying either but wish I'd got something like the Joie earlier as it's more value for money in the long run.
The seat belt gets in the way when rearward facing, quite a turn off as buying for my 6 month old. I wish Joie spin came without isofix, I might have to install isofix in the end
Group 0+ car seat are much better from birth and let you carry the baby inside/to supermarket trolley/compatible pram without disturbing too

However birth to 6 weeks shouldn't be in a carrier for more than 30mins in 24 hours, then no more than 2 hours in 24 hours from then til not in use because of airway restrictions. (chin on chest)

Can you use rear facing at that age?

My 18 month old was running out of leg room rear facing.

Babies can legally move to a front facing seat at the 9kg minimum weight, but they must fit in the harness and also be able to sit unaided for a minimum of 30 minutes - no less. Moving your child forward facing at 9kg is not just as safe as having them rear facing.

Can be used to 18kg rearward facing. Can rest their legs on the seat rather than in the back of the person in front or having their legs dangling. Kids are hyper mobile at that age.

The cheaper seats are tested to the legal minimum of forward impact test 31.5mph and rearward impact 18mph.
How often might one be driving at just those speeds? Then the collective speed at which an accident may occur can exceed those speeds. More expensive brands tend to test at greater speeds.
Which! DONT BUY

I don't think many people actually know that you shouldn't keep a baby in a car seat for more than 30 minutes. I've been to the children's ward at the hospital a lot lately and the amount of people I've seen in the waiting room for at least an hour with the baby in the car seat is unbelievable. That's after them driving to the hospital in the first place.

Which! DONT BUY

That's forward facing in group 1 (9kg to 18kg (9mths to 4 years) ). Used in all other modes this car seat is very good.
Perfectly legal to forward face from 9kg but its not the safest way for a child in that weight group to travel.
