Does anybody really buy any of these at this price?

Does anyone know if the operating system on this any good?

I haven't tried it, but it's developerd by the people who used to make all the decent Nokia software, before they were bought out. I imagine it will be different but well made.

Here's a helpful review: … Here's a helpful review: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/mobile-phone/3491641/jolla-smartphone-review/I wouldn't spend £200 on this!

Here's some more, compiled by engadget:

Reviews answered my question...

Why would anyone buy this ? Can anyone give me one good reason?

Some of us are intelligent enough to be able to use an OS like sailfish or Linux. We don't want something simple that "just works". We want a three button mouse and a command line, something that thickos can't use.

who took the jam out of your doughnut?

Some positives would be:

+Good hardware and build quality, outright core speed matters less as the OS is not horrifically hungry can do true multitasking
+Battery last well
+Can easily add an microSD card up to 64GB and you choose the filesystem to format it as (ext4,btfs etc.)
+Your life isn't on google or microsoft or apple... you should have better privacy on this device
+Open Linux system, you could re-write parts of the OS and apps if you decided to
+Can also use Android apps and import existing contacts from Android etc easily

-Hardware might seem slightly dated like camera etc, but OS is not as resource hungry so this mitigates a bit

i hope this os has more potential than firefox os, and at least it got released whereas still waiting for ubuntu... but nice to see alternatives to iosdroid8.1etc

Its quite a niche product... I suspect it will get voted cold purely on that basis... yet if you want something like this... its a good deal and that's the point of this site right?

yes correct

I'm intrigued.

Can see a healthy rom community if this OS takes off

probably a snapdragon 400? and 1gb ram so hardware should be arguably cheaper. They can clearly do a lot with those resources though. many happy users. I'd like to play with one first but would definitely consider it

Haha that was so funny... Actually no it wasn't... Why on earth would you suggest that?!

Btw great find! Heat added... Hope this takes off!

I would not look much into the older reviews as the OS as changed a lot since it's release. Just yesterday Jolla released their 10th update. It's not for everyone but if you like linux or open source software or your a power user it's a great phone.
