Seems a good price as the knife block itself is usually over £50, although I associate Joseph Joseph stuff is pricey to begin with.

Good reviews and the locking feature seems a good safety idea.

* Includes a set of 6 high-quality knives with non-slip ergonomic handles and protective bolster guards
* Knife blades forged from Japanese stainless steel with precision taper ground edges

Amazon have a load of other Joseph Joseph stuff reduced.

Is REP recommended extortion price?

Reasonable price now but really £150 for 6 average knives.
They were £99 before the price drop rather than £150 but given other retailers are selling only the block for the same price this does seem a decent offer.....if you're interested in this product.
Thanks, been waiting for these to appear on a decent offer. Heat added.
£58!!!

£58!!!

Is that good or bad?
Tempted but as I have no small children around put off by the block locking system which you have to release each time you need a knife!

Good compared to the supposed rrp, which may be extortionate, but they are on sale generally at much higher price than this.
However, perhaps bad compared to this:

Ordered love Jospeh Joseph stuff
Great just payed £95 last week on Amazon

Edit they wouldn't give me a partial refund as the deal of the day is now over but have refunded 30% so I paid £65, not perfect but better I suppose

Definitely better and one of the reasons I like Amazon. With little acts like that they encourage return business.
I'm surprised the utensil carousel posted, reduced to £21.99 from £55, gets 200 degrees, yet this barely registers and compared to that and other Joseph Joseph stuff, this actually gets good reviews beyond just the design/style. Ho hum, I see it's no longer available direct from Amazon, so hopefully this helped a few get one.
I just bought it direct

Could you tell us which knives you would recommend?
Showing as £97.49 now.
I'm also looking for a good set any better alternatives?
Victorinox knives are generally known as the best value knives, around £15-£25 each. Very sharp and hold their edge. I bought the wooden handled ones which are more expensive but the cheaper fibrox handle knives have the same blade.

After a whole heap of research (likewise when looking for a new set of saucepans) I have to agree with Krato - Victorinox knives definitely offer the most bang for your buck and I know a number of chefs that use and recommend them. I expect the Kitchen Devils knife block mentioned on here would be good enough for basic kitchen duties and is a very good price. Can't ever imagine 'professionals' using them though!
Joseph Joseph stuff way overpriced

Victorinox or Robert Welch are good well priced knives. Stick with German or Japanese and you can't really good wrong (if u got the money). Hope that helps
And Global knives I presume are well rated?
