Such a steal for such an amazing Joy-Con!

I don't know if this is preowned or new, it does not say and I didn't ask.

Does it vote UKIP?
Every single joycon is going to fail sooner or later (sooner rather than later) because of the way the analogue sensors are made.

Nintendo really messed up.

a bit niche, but cheaper than the nintendo repair service..

I got a Joy-Con repaired for free by Nintendo. Saying that though, I have warranty that is still active
Bah, would like a left one. That's the one on mine that's drifting.

Was it Neon Red or Mario Red ?

Yep mines been doing that for months now...seems to be a regular problem with the left. It's annoying. Puts me off playing the switch sometimes. Tried everything bar taking the joycon apart.

Nah it was just over 12 months old by the time it started happening. They timed it perfectly.

That's a shame. Hopefully you could get it repaired at a reasonable cost or buy a new one at some point. I have an Argos D&G warranty, it has unlimited repairs and I don't pay anything now until September 2020 because I paid for a year, my Switch still covered

I replaced the stick on my Joy-Con a couple of weeks ago. Got two with a toolkit from eBay for £10, but the replacement sticks didn't work properly. Bought another couple from Amazon for £5, which came in much better packaging, and worked a treat!

Saw the same DVD case in Staines Game, so I suspect that this is the price for any Joy-Con if they have preowned stock. Worth asking in local store if you are after a replacement Joy-Con

You don't need a new one to stop driftng.

Lift the rubber seal under the stick and spray in 1 second worth of wd40 Fast drying contact fluid. Work it in, let it dry for 10 mins and it will be working fine again.

See my comment about contact fluid spray mate.
Just send it back to Ninty? Even if you're out of warranty, they give you a new 12mth as part of the fix. I send mine back at 11 months for a polish.

Tried cleaning it before but no joy but will try your suggestion cheers. I'm not using the joycons for the meantime since I got my pro controller.

The contact cleaner makes all the difference. I was sceptical but it works great

and they extend the warranty for another year from repair. Atleast they did that to me.

you can just buy spare modules online. Cheap Chinese ones, they only last about 200 hours before they start drifting again compared to the around 650 you get on the Nintendo ones. £5 job gets you two modules. Only takes 15-20 min to swap.

Do they take the whole switch with the joycons to repair or just the joycons?

I got my switch at release and sent a joycon off to be fixed earlier this year. I think as long as you send it with proof you purchased it from new they fix it for free. I do think I need to send it back again though as they fixed the analogue drift but now it won't sync as a single joycon for multiplayer.
Nice to know I can get a single replacement for reasonably cheap when if I break my joycons trying to fit a transluenct purple shell to them. Might actually give it a shot knowing it won't be sixty quid if I snap a ribbon.

Well, i've done 3 replacements upto now and not broke a cable. So anyone can fix them really. I just dont see the point in paying return postage and waiting if you can you it yourself. besides the repair, if people need a spare for the random person who comes round to play mario cart, this is pretty good

Return is free as Nintendo pay for the postage. Personally I'd rather get it repaired by Nintendo, as I have warranty that covers accidental damage and faults that aren't accidental, and my warranty is void if I attempt to repair anything myself.

Did you ask in shops that offer their own repair service, or shops that sell Joy-Cons by chance? They probably said that because they want you to buy their Joy-Cons/use their repair service, or they just don't know and guessing without doing their research first.

Yeah CEX and Game. But since I got it from Tesco I'm guessing I'll send it through them with the receipt.

Now if only I can find the receipt from last year...

Give Nintendo a call or go on live chat to discuss the repair before sending it, I would say. Get an email with confirmation of the repair booking, that way you have proof a repair was requested in case they receive the Joy-Con and say nothing was requested.

I keep all of my receipts for that sort of thing in envelopes in a drawer :P

Btw you can't void a warranty by attempting a repair yourself. Only if you damage something physically are you liable.

Also fun fact, if you dont have your reciept for cex, they can search the serial number of what was sold and cross referance it with the purchase method. I recently returned a broken graphics card without recipt and got it put on my debit card

Well my Argos D&G plan in the terms and conditions says something about the warranty / plan being void if I attempt to fix the issue myself

Also with CeX in-store purchases save on your membership card if you use one, which makes the whole process quicker, but I like to keep receipts anyway just in case
