The 40th Anniversary Edition of Unknown Pleasures was around this price on release.. a year on it's worth £50+ all day and climbing. Closer may not go the same way, but now would seem to be a good time to secure a copy!

"Limited edition 40th anniversary version of the band’s second and final studio album, pressed on 180g crystal clear vinyl.

Originally released in July 1980 on Factory Records, the album reached number 6 in the UK Charts. In the same year, the album was voted number 1 in NME’s 1980 Albums of the Year poll.

Closer was recorded in March 1980 at Britannia Row Studios in Islington, London. It was produced by the highly praised Martin Hannett whose distinctive production style utilised unorthodox sound recording and technology."

Side A:

Atrocity Exhibition
Isolation
Passover
Colony
A Means To An End

Side B:

Heart And Soul
Twenty Four Hours
The Eternal
Decades

I have deliberated whether to seek out the originals.. * I’ve heard the original master of Unknown Pleasures on Tidal (so verified bit perfect from the master tape) vs the anniversarys and the original sounds a bit more airy and spatial in the dynamics.. perhaps more inline with Hannets productions.. these 40th anniversary editions are from the 2015 stamps and are great pressings of excellent remasters, which sound great but louder.. a bit more raw perhaps despite being cleaner.. originals and remasters both sound amazing I like both

* Friend is lending me an early Japanese pressing with obi strip soon
