Is this big enough to get mountain bike parts into?

I got exactly the same machine but branded ALDI (or tevion or something like that) for £15 a couple of months back.

It works very well but I'm not sure this is a bargain.

It depends which parts? One Peddle then yes........the handlebars then no.

These are good, but like SpoonyBoy says, they can be got for a lot less than this - my 'no name' version came from ebuyer a year or two back - I think it was £10-15 - nothing like £30, let alone £45.

what do you guys use yours for?

Do you need to buy the cleaning solution, or is there a cheap solution - e.g. vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, or weed killer and sugar etc etc?

To clean my nuts and my bell.....

from my bike. What else would you use it for? ;-)

So it gets the mud off?

I think you got cleaning it mixed up with blowing it up ;-)

Have only used it a few times - e.g. cleaning Leatherman Micra tools (not really big enough for full size Leatherman's), small parts, etc., inc. CDs and DVDs. Could be good for coins, medals, small knives, tools, keys - basically anything that is metal or hard that gets grimy.

I read somewhere that it's helpful to put some distilled vinegar in the water too for extra cleaning power.

In the case of the Leatherman Micra, they are good for removing built up grime in all the nooks and crannies that you couldn't otherwise get to. I suppose there's a lot more I could use it for if I thought to get it out more often.

HTH.

And anything else that's sticky!

does it also work on rubber and plastic?

Dunno, can't get them in - too big

if they are too big then you must have a small unit. This is 750ml and it takes them.

You obviously know the wife - that is what she says - dammit!

My excuse is, it was a gift - I did not choose it.

I bought it to clean my girlfreinds ring =D

Works a treat, I bought cleaning solution specifically for silver/gold/platinum but any cleaning solution would probably work on cheap items.

I dont think you'd want to use this in a tattoo parlour, unless you're only doin 1 tube at a time.
& leave it in there for a good 15 - 20 mins.

OK for cleaning the ink of the tubes/needles in between colours.

Just in case anyone is thinking of using it to clean jewellery set with emeralds - don't! While people have done so without problem, emeralds have been known to shatter in these type of cleaners (emeralds are actually quite fragile), so it's not really worth the risk of destroying your jewellery.

FWIW:
This is exactly the same unit that's on sale periodically at Netto. Got mine a couple of months ago for £17.99 & it works well (used mainly for dismantled mobile phone components/bodies)

I think you’d be better off with a wire brush for your nuts ;-)
