Jungle Formula insect repellent - recommended to me by my sister-in-law as I've been bitten (before using this) several times this summer - is £8.15 at Boots and other retailers.
A warning though - and I think this should be on the can - spray it on yourself outside as if it gets on any other surfaces, furniture, floor etc then it is just about impossible to remove. That said, it will stick to your skin all day! But it doesn't stay sticky to the touch.
