From Argyle Street, Glasgow, earlier. May be of interest to those who know their American brands? I was confused by the "Junior Mints" name and thought they were a packet of sweets at first!

Can see it on Amazon UK at the moment, £6.99, but American brands are always pricey over here, so not a realistic comparison amazon.co.uk/Jun…NSD

80 calories a sachet - wonder how this compares to low cal alternatives like Cadbury's Highlights or Twinings' Options Hot Chocolate?

Best Before Date on my pack is October 2018.

Step 1: Empty contents of instant powder packet into a cup or mug.
Step 2: Pour up to 8 fl oz of hot water into the cup or mug.
Add only 6 fl oz of water for a richer taste.
Replace water with milk for a creamier taste.
Step 3: Stir until the entire contents of the instant powder packet is dissolved.

Also picked up Dove Limited Edition Beauty Blossom 150g Cream from this store - alternative "ordinary" Dove tubs were in 75g tubs.33195358-IJ3bT.jpg
Do these have that spewy undertone like most US Domestic chocolate (e.g. Hersheys)? I would imagine that if it does it would come from any powdered milk content in the mix.

That's a good point, I love chocolate but I agree that Hershey's tastes like sick...I suppose I'll find out tomorrow (on a fast day today). I do quite like Hershey's Butter Cups, though - the peanut butter disguises the horrible chocolate.
damit, i thought these were junior mints, so much nicer than poppets, ate these so much when travelling across the States. Their milky way is basically a mars bar.

I saw a Tootsie Roll Hot Chocolate flavour as well (online, not in Poundland, unless anyone knows better!) amazon.co.uk/Too…4CS must be a product line of different varieties.

Edit: Sugar Babies is another one amazon.co.uk/Bab…QQX

I remember reading once its partially down to the way the chocolate is made. One of them uses as continuous method so they is a constant "flow" of chocolate out of the mixers, whereas the other makes it in batches of XXX kg at a time that then is used as the next batch made. I don't remember which way around it was (doh),

Although given there are cost restrictions to be met, the choice of cacao bean source ( Cadburys used to be South American whereas Hersheys came from Africa) and the relative amount of sugar and other additives such as milk, fats and so on to hit whatever cost per bar the maker has will affect taste too.

It was an interesting book, mainly about the Mars company, I just wish I knew who I loaned it to as it never came back to me

Thanks Carl, I will add this to the original post to help other HUKDers on the lookout.

Just tried one. I'd say it tastes similar to the Mint/Choc Options sachets I used to buy years ago, perfectly drinkable and good for a diet day (I do fast days) Though I find when I trigger the "sweet" part of my palate it makes me crave sweeties!!
