This cashback reward is known as the "Cupboard stock up bonus" running until 1 March:

Thanks for that clarification. Means I can mix in some other stuff instead of bothering my bowels with 10 tins of beans.

Asda baked beans are made by the same company who makes Branston baked beans, look at the bottom of the cans barcodes are identical.

    Ooh

These are the best of if the value own brands. Sauce is thick and plenty of beans . Aldis on the other hand are very watery and have less beans .
    MisterGeezer's avatar
I assume you're talking about the cheapest one Aldi do? Try the Corale brand from Aldi, they're excellent.

    The tinned spaghetti hoops are 16p/can. 10 x 16p = £1.60 - £1.50 = 10p ie 1p/can
  5. anaxom's avatar
Or tinned spaghetti in tomato sauce is 19p so £1.90 for 10 plus £1.50 cashback, so will only cost you 40p
  6. Yoda85's avatar
Go for 10 tins of spaghetti hoops at 16p a tin instead, and it works out at 1p per tin!

What is meant by 'Back in rewards'?
    terriertom's avatar
Asda Rewards gives money back to the Rewards app on certain 'Star' items and on Reward 'Missions' which can then be spent on future Asda shops. There's also a related promotion ending soon which gives a £20 Reward if you successfully apply for and use an Asda credit card by the end of Feb details on their website. Considerably better than anything Lidl or Morrisons has to offer.
  9. maizipops's avatar
It's worth noting that if you're new to the app (or have a spare mobile number to create a new account) you get a £5 reward on your first scan and these offers can be combined. Scan your first item alone, scan your app and pay then you'll instantly get the £5 reward which you can use to pay for the other 9 items towards this deal and get your £1.50 reward for that in the 2nd transaction. Meaning you only pay cash for the 1st item and have some extra reward balance to play with.

I'm unclear about the "scan" part. How do Rewards work with online shopping (or is it instore app only)?

Quality as compared to other own brands?
    Mark_Flanagan's avatar
Honestly I'm not fussy and happy to buy cheap brands however I hate these beans, much prefere branston however they're creeping up in price now not far off Heinz, however I buy these drain them wash them and use the harricot beans in home made minestrone soup (usually a can of harricot is approx 75p)

On another note I thought you were limited to 3 on the just essentials range...

Not anymore, last week I bought more than 3 Just essential items instore . There used to be notice on shelf before but its disappeared now.

Tremendous deal. I've not tried them but I've had the Essentials beans and sausages, which are nice, so assume these will be fine.

Can always grate some cheese into them or add some chilli powder if they're lacking.
  15. davocc's avatar
Some garlic curried cabbage with this and I'm on my way to getting my own corner office all to myself with windows that even open. The boss is so generous sometimes.

    TehJumpingJawa's avatar
If it's still available, it'll be listed in the Asda rewards app. ( And you need to scan the app during checkout to receive the points)

Yes, appears to still be available. (edited)

Had these earlier with my daily fry up. Perfectly good, tasty beans, but one thing for sure is that there is huge snobbery out there about branded baked beans, when the reality is that there is absolute minimal difference between most as many come out of the same factory and to the same recipe, but with a different label. (edited)
    TechnoDonkey's avatar
Beans are beans. There's nothing premium whatsoever in beans, and the only difference will be the balance of sugar, salt and spices. Heinz are absolutely no better in quality than any other brand yet charge four or five times the price so that they can continue to spend millions on marketing. If that particular balance of flavours within Heinz beans means someone is willing to pay a huge amount more per can then it's their money, but personally I think they're nothing special - pretty watery if anything.

I do remember 20-odd years ago though when the No Frills beans were terrible quality - like bullets.

Won't all those extra methane emissions resulting from greatly increased bean consumption accelerate the melting of the icecaps ?
    Gollywood's avatar
I think I melted a few last night. My apologies to the world....
  27. amygreen79677's avatar
That is an amazing price. Thanks.
  28. Cinderella's avatar
Thought you were only allowed 3 of the same essential items in one transaction?
  29. BreakingBank's avatar
Lol I get these but says maximum allowed is 3. So how will I buy 10?
  30. darren_hooker's avatar
Now that's what I call a deal.. Mixed with some brown sauce and you won't tell the difference from more expensive beans
    CynicalNurse's avatar
Whenever I have had then there has been a lot of sauce and not many beans.
