Doesn't matter. All you need is a TV that has Optical audio output (Digital audio out OPTICAL).

So long as it has an optical or analogue audio output then yes you can. Most smart TV's have optical outputs but double check first before handing over cash. Oh and don't let them sell you any over-priced monster cable crap. The very cheapest working optical cable will be just as good as the most expensive.
Is it any good? Or is it Hot because of Deezer?

I've just removed 4 x keff eggs and Yamaha amp as it was too much space under the TV so looking for something compact like this but would hate a tinny comparison...

I know it's no Keff but comprises is what I'm doing but got to be good for music and the odd movie.
Does this default to normal mode when first powered on?

I ask this as I bought a soundbar from Argos last month and every time I switched it on it would beep beep go into Bluetooth mode. Utterly useless, as I want it to start working straight away with the telly with no user input (ie I don't want to be pressing a button on its remote to get it to output from the TV)
instock for me
I wished if this was chargeable as my projector is far away from the socket and I’m not sure if I can get 5 meters wire for the sound bar
Got this on Christmas Eve, great product
Anyone got this? What does 30w RMS sound like with no separate sub?

Anyone got this? What does 30w RMS sound like with no separate sub?

Which? rated it at 55% and criticised it for this very reason:

"How does it sound?

It's pretty mediocre. While there's some good clarity to vocals, the lack of a separate subwoofer is obvious in the sound. Without the extra depth of bass this would bring, the sound is very focused in the mid-range, lacking the warmth you need for big orchestral soundtracks.

It also struggles to create a stereo effect. The small size is its downfall. Without the larger physical separation of the speakers at either end it can't give that sense of space."

It's several hundred quid from memory. Better for you to state your budget and someone can check that.

Is this any good? I'm looking for good sound. Not too expensive. I don't listen to music. I don't like loud sound because I am always worried about the neighbours being able to hear what am watching or playing

Had it for less with 10% off code for audio last week, if you ask at the till the code might still work. Bought it as a present for mother in law.
Sound is more than good for price you pay, definitely an upgrade over standart tv speakers.
The bass might be a little bit to deep right out of the box, but you have some equalizer presets that will deal with it.
Easy to set up, compact size, bluetooth, don't think you can have anything better in this price bracket.

I actually never thought of that I should use my old headphone because I don't sit far from the TV

Also it's not just the neighbors (all my house has thin walls) I don't want room mate in the next room to be woken up at night

I can literally hear my neighbors speak I need to move Lol

I might consider to the built in TV speakers are really flat and sound horrible

Headphones are seriously the way forward then. Maybe Bluetooth - you could get full on awesome movie sound without anyone knowing. I pretty much retired my surround sound system in favour of headphones since my little boy was born.

What's Whichs Best buy please?

In terms of their top 19, these are the lowest priced

32927765-cBUa1.jpg

The highest rated is £700, so not really comparable. I think it's important to get a separate sub, as otherwise you'd be just as well putting pc speakers on your TV for the price point.

I can only imagine these cheap soundbars are made to just satisfy people who just want a sound bar and not really a better audio output.

Yes, Sorry for the late reply. All TV's have optical out nowadays (do check though). Although don't be pressured to buy overpriced cables from Currys. On eBay they start at £1.49 (Or a few pence from china if you can wait a month or so )

This will sound poor compared to your kef eggs. Maybe look at the Samsung one posted today - it's bigger and will sound more powerful than this one.
