Can you add the name of the retailer & the price to the title please ant500 as we try & include these

ie, "JVC 42" 42DT8 HD Ready 720p Freeview - £499 @ Play.com"

Also 4% quidco available!

Great Deal! Nice Find.

Anyone got this TV - is it any good?

seems a good deal.
too big for my living room though. 37" is max really

I find you cant trust anything with a low price at play.com because days after ordering they always say its a misprice.AND in my experience once they tell you that ,they NEVER respond to emails or questions. In fact Ive always found its hard to find a way to send them a question about anything.
Be nice to see someone get one.Good Luck

yes ive had problems with play. sent them an email complaining and never heard back from them

Don't forget 4% quidco too! Thats a nice £20 back.

has anybody found anymore info on this tele, JVC website do not have it and everywhere else have the same useless info Play have...

and 5% with a UCAS card so 9% off altogether which is about £45

yus786

ive got to agree play are not the best to reply to email. i would stay away from myself

its only 720 p, that is prolly why it is cheap, shame really not worth it for 720p

Contrast ratio?
Response time?

Cannot find any details about this, if its remotely good I'll order!

Never attempted to email them, but having phoned them instead, they've probably - from my experience - got one of the more efficient CS teams going; or maybe I were just lucky. Either way, perhaps give calling them up a crack instead, next time?

thanks -- remember the last cheap tv debacle play
also communiaction on expensive goods and their refunds policy needs careful reading
cant blame them for cheap cd s
good luck to buyers

Try and get a 1080p 42" TV for the same price. The difference between 720p and 1080p at 42" is not that noticeable if you sit at the proper distance.

anyone know what the contrast ratio is?

This deal seems a bit untrue?

Surely cant be an error as says rrp £899.99 now £499.99 save £400
its there is black and white
JVC is a decent make.

Must admit after my last rediculous experience of Play, I decided to avoid them.
Bought something in a sale, which I hadn't recieved after 10 days, yet they weren't willing to consider it until 21 days later. After 21 days they promptly issued me with a credit.
Just seemed a complete waste of time and rather fishy!

How good is the quidco tracking with Play and the honour rate/percent?

Ta.

having a good look round the JVC website leads me to an instruction booklet

uk.jvc-service.net/pub…DT8

However, the cover of the instruction booklet says LT-42DA8, the specs for this are here

jvc.co.uk/pro…88&

Says the contrast ratio is 1000:1

I'm not 100% sure whether the specs are exactly the same, but going off limited info this is the best I can find. Looks a good deal for a 42", but limited contrast ratio would ring a few bells, but it's a good make.

Only 1000:1 is not good, ideally you should be looking at 5000:1 minimum for a decent pic.
personally id pay a few hundred quid extra and get a better spec, lets not forget this is £500.
Still a good budget buy though, but if i bought it id (probably) be looking at it thinking if only i spent a bit more......

Good deakl but your right 1000:1 not got, I'd go with the 37" Samsung for £495 someone posted up here.

I ordered one of the £500 LCDs from them a couple of weeks ago, they cancelled my order but didn't even tell me, I needed to chase them up to find out. No reason given, their CS team didn't know, nor were they willing to even try to find out. Order by all means however don't hold your breath and then you can be really pleased if something actually turns up! My experience of their quidco tracking on DVDs is ok.

Contrast ratios stats are meaningless on LCDs - it all depends how much the manufacturer wants to lie. There was one top of range model recently that claimed 500,000:1, and was measured at 2300:1. That was the best that testing lab had ever seen on an LCD btw, so you aren't going to get 5000:1 anywhere. If you really want that, get a plasma or latest-gen rear projector (OLED, LCoS or 3rd-gen DLP).

i posted a samsung deal earlier 42 inch set £599.99 inc postage(dabs). i feel the samsung may be a better buy, however last few times ive posted a deal it seems to instantly disapear deep into the cellars of this site,This is still a hot deal though and a respected brand so voted hot

realblender;1724899

any idea of the standard warranty with these?

cant see that either so presume its standard 1 year, shame no pc input on this model,

I have always used quido when ordering from play and always been paid ...so it is very good at tracking and paying, hope that is a help to you
