Thanks for the post hayley83, but this is £272 (delivered) from pixmania pixmania.co.uk/uk/…=36 , just depends if you can use the Boots points

Prices on HDD camcorders are falling fast!

Thought this was a great price - then I looked on Amazon and found it for only £268! Mixed reviews - but most of these were when the price was nearly double.... for this price it has me tempted!

Thanks Hayley83!

The only bummer with HDD camcorders is that they capture in MPEG2 as opposed to DV, but as njmbtn says, at this price and no stock of mini DV tapes needed, it is bit tempting!

MPEG2 is dvd quality though. Aint it?

I have one of these. Excellent camcorder and transferring and editing images to pc is a piece of pi$$. I'd definately recommend one, much better than a digital one that uses a mini dvd or tape.

What happens if you fill the hard drive whilst on holiday? Can you use tapes or disks as well?

Yeah, but there's a big diff in quality between DVD spec MPEG 2 produced from a consumer camcorder versus a factory pressed Hollywood Movie.

Nope.

That said, it wouldn't be too hard to review your footage on holiday and remove the inevitable dross. You would have to be working HARD to get 4.5 hours of footage worth keeping, unless you were bootlegging a Live 8 Gig :giggle: .

Thanks for the price hunt ]njmbtn and LongDongDave!
