I was told by someone with knowledge of these to avoid them like the plague. They eventually develop an issue where they zoom out of control so that the picture is always rubbish.

Funny you should say that my Sony is zooming automatically at the moment - think there's some crap under the lever...

Not sure what sort of problems you mean but I have a Canon miniDV csmcorder for past 3 years and does what it should :santa:

What's "them"? This particular model, or minidv in general?

Its only the jvc ones.

I've used JVC camcorders for years. Never had any issues

Great price for this camcorder and was about to buy until I saw the GR-D370 model. After the 10% off (thanks) still £36ish more but worth it to me for the usb connection and sd slot. Awaiting delivery now.
