Fire TV Edition

All your favourite Prime shows and movies are just moments away on the JVC LT-49CF890 Fire TV Edition 49" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV. The popular Fire TV smart platform is built-in, so it's easy to find something new with personalised recommendations.

There's plenty to keep the whole family happy with Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Discovery, BBC iPlayer, and many more.

Alexa voice remote

Catching up on your latest box set has never been easier – just pick up the remote and ask. Alexa makes it easy to search popular channels and control your TV.

And just like a smart speaker, you can ask Alexa for weather updates, sports scores, the latest headlines, and control smart devices (such as lights or thermostat) around your home.

4K HDR

Everything looks better in 4K – with four times the resolution of Full HD, you'll marvel at the detail and colour definition.

Plus, with HDR content you'll see a greater depth of colour and brilliant brightness for a more realistic viewing experience – those BBC documentaries have never looked so good.

I bought this for my nan about a fortnight ago... First we had to order a new remote as the one that was sent didn't pair.
Now the TV is incredibly slow, bogged down by updates from Amazon.
There's no option to remove standard definition channels or even reorder them. So my dear old nan forgets to press 1 0 1 for the HD versions of terrestrial channels. There's a live TV button on the remote but it takes you inexplicably to the standard definition BBC one.
I'll be on the phone again to curry's today to see what can be done.
Unfortunately due to my particular experience the TV is a thumbs down from me. Which is a shame as I thought it could be the smart TV which she'd be most comfortable operating.
Yeah my dad had one of these when they were on sale at Amazon, really bad screen uniformity, he had 3 exchanged I think for whole sections of the screen being so much brighter than other parts, he eventually got a Samsung 50 7400 I think it was and he is happy with it.
Spend £300 on the Hitachi 58" in Argos instead.
Can get a 43” Philips ambilight delivered from Amazon/ Richer Sounds for this price, quality is 1000 times better than this junk

Doesn't the remote work via infrared?
JVC is an in house Currys/PcWorld brand sold exclusively by C/PCW (even via Amazon CPCW will be the sellers of all New products )

Depending in your prior experience of C/PCW support and repairs you may wish to buy another brand....

Oh yeah thought it was just fire, personally I’d still go with a better brand, like someone said the updates have bloated the software, better off buying a separate firestick
Who knows maybe he bought a job lot for a deal, or open box may mean display models, or Returns or refurbished models.

C/PCW are the licencees of the JVC brand for TV’s in the UK.
All UK stock has come from them, even if someone is selling them new and sealed they still will have been sourced from the CPCW chain.

You can see from the UK support site they supplied Comet, who are no longer trading and all others are C/PCW

No problem..

Im sure there are people selling them elsewhere for many reasons, but if you ever had the experience of CPCW service it may make you choose another brand

I called up and the "team know how" lady on the other end said she'd had three requests for broken remotes that day.

The issue is pairing the remote with the television using the home button. So could be software perhaps.

The telly now has developed the tendency to turn itself off intermittently and the only way to get it back on is to flip the mains switch off n on.

Not very "elderly friendly". Still searching for a viable product.

Yes but does the remote work via infrared? Or is it WiFi as your need to pair it?

Also have you had a look at the Hisense Roku TVs at Argos? Roku is generally considered pretty easy to use

Or the Philips PUS6754?

I might try her with roku next.

Going to try an all in one remote as well with super huge buttons.

The remote works with infrared but our first one wouldn't pair with the telly to take us past the initial srsrt up page on the telly. All the other buttons were working, ie we could turn the volume on the set up and down and turn the TV on using the power button. The home button was the only one able to pair the TV and its remote but that was seemingly dead on arrival.

Having spent a horrendous amount of time kn hold to "team know-it-all" yesterday they have advised to factory restart the TV in order to speed it up.

Currently takes 15 - 20 seconds to change from one live TV channel to another.

I was watching a few you tube reviews on this and people commented on how slow and bogged down it is by amazon apps. I need some advice on TVs I'm after a new 1 and have whittled it down to 3. It's just for in the living room but play the Ps4 on it so want a good gaming TV as well.
