The reasons you mentioned (smart features, speakers and "reliability") are totally acceptable sacrifices for the price. The image quality is the main reason people buy a TV, this has been rated very highly in that area for its price point. Almost every TV has rubbish speakers, anyone who is that bothered either has or will get a soundbar anyway. Smart features are completely pointless in all TVs nowadays with all the technology in almost every device out there, I have a Sony TV with a shed load of features and I still just use Netflix and my Chromecast. Lastly reliability, what does that even relate to? The TV works with some issues with the already stated categories. If you can accept those issues, then saving £300+ over a similar size quality picture is a no brainer.

Lots of brands are using Vestel now for their budget models, so this may be a Vestel too. JVC used to be a good brand, is not what is used to be before, saying this probably all the Vestel TVs are more or less the same quality.

I know all about Vestel & old/new JVC.

Flimsy quality, cheap components, cheap TVs.

Although why anyone would spend so much on a JVC when decent branded TVs (posted daily on HUKD) go for similar prices, with long warranties & not from Currys, I'll never know
Cracking price for 55" 4k

Cracking price for 55" 4k
Looks great for just TV and sky virgin but reviews look as tho its the same as other jvc smart tvs as it appears to lag and freeze on the smart side ie YouTube and other apps which could mean its only a dual core processor. But hard to find out exactly..
But for the size it's a good deal and ideal for xbox s or x I'd imagine
Good price if you don't use the smart features.
Good price if you think JVC is a good brand
Looks similar to the Toshiba's. Seems a lot for not A lot. If you don't like the os get a 4k firestick etc
Voted hot for price and specs! Got the 32 inch version a week ago, seems fine but is very flimsy. Very to say the least. Also, is made by Vestel.

Sorry, was not meant to post it for you, I clicked 'quote' by mistake.
I can't say I had a bad experience with Vestel, I've got my previous spare TV second hand for £90. It was Accoustic solutions, made by Vestel, so assumption was it will not be great. Lasted 10 years. Got a Vestel JVC now to replace it, full hd, paid £150 for it. So, i guess it depends what you want and what you are willing to spend.
The sad part is that serious brands such as Panasonic are using Vestel. I do not mind to get a Vestel TV as a spare one, but not as my main TV. Got a Panasonic 40 inch as my main TV 7 years ago, did not know anything about Vestel, turned up this one was a Vestel too. I had chosen Panasonic over LG and Samsung, I think now I will do it the other way around.

Wow thanks. That is cheap.
Hi tried putting in the code to add vouchers does not work, where do I add it on eBay thanks
I've seen the smaller version of this, WiFi packed in, picture looks decent though. You wouldn't know it was a modern TV with the build quality. Hard to argue with the price so all in all a good deal.
1 x Scart, I think.

Have you got one the same? What's up with the reliability?
I sell these and see so many returned for the reasons I have stated.

Great deal. Will prob go out of stock soon
Vestlel screens have got better over the last few years but you get what you pay for, great price in my opinion if you want one before crimbo
So my eBay account isn't enabled for the 15% off code, but I decided to buy through eBay anyway to get the ~300 nectar points.
To my surprise, PayPal gave me £20 off for an undisclosed 'special offer'! No idea why, but might be worth trying if you're going to buy one of these anyway!

Vestel.. just like my 4k Toshiba that the remote stopped working on within 4 months.

I'm not going to knock it because of the price. In the end it's down to what you want from a television and what your expectation is from this brand and model .
Omg banger deal would have bought this my son instead the over priced v bucks great price heat added

Please show me the decent branded 55inch similar spec tv for £349? I'd really appreciate it, as I really want to purchase one! I haven't seen any below £500 odd (7100 models).

Do you really sell them and are you able to give me a lower price than this offering from Currys? Is JVC really a budget brand? Don't they outsource manufacturing to third parties ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN SPECIFICATIONS - a la Apple iPhones? Does anybody speak the truth (as it were) on these forums?

reliability an acceptable sacrifice - no point in owning the best car in the scrap yard
Bargain price to be honest!!
This realy has DV? 4x 2.0 hdmi they seem to be doing something right
Ive had a 50" Vestel Blaupunkt for 3yrs now. Picture is fine for a PS4 and it is proven totally reliable, apart from an initial burning smell and also the speakers are comical.

I didn't say 55". I just said decent brands for similar prices. Typically 49"-50". Recent Philips, Sony, Hisense, Panasonic etc in the last few days

Good price if you think JVC is a good brand

JVC don’t make TV’s . This is another Japanese legacy brand licensed by Dixon’s Carphone and is likely a Turkish made Vestel set. Personally I find this practice deceptive and unethical as it is designed to fool the public into thinking they are buying a high quality Japanese made TV when clearly you are not.....

My point is that the only known reliability concerns are the already stated issues (Speakers and Smart features). Which are most definitely not a big concern for many, for the reasons I have given. The reviews confirm this (which there are tons to read), price doesn't mean anything nowadays. There are thousands of Vestel sets that will outlive the bigger brand screens. Spend what you are happy to spend I say, for £350ish you are getting an absolute bargain on value for money. It's like comparing the "Chinese" android phones to the price of a new Samsung phone, we have realised there's soo much more value for our money on the market.

Fair enough for those sizes, but not really fair to compare to a 55", as this is. Some of us have smaller and wish to go up, but cannot afford 500 odd£. Would love to see a quality 55" for sub 400, that's why I scour these forums!
