Very few reviews on these TVs. I've been considering the 40 for a few days
Can you put smart IPTV app on this?

Should be able to, it behaves like a fire stick, just with extra live-TV features.
Joov-ka lu-ka-duh-tuv?
What worries me with Fire embedded is the support in a few years time... once Amazon have lost interest....bet the UI will become pretty crappy!

Been looking at it too, the only thing that puts me off is the contrast ratio is lower on the 40 inch than the bigger ones

You prob better to get the Hisense 43 inch for the same price? But the GX800B is a great choice. High price as it's the only 40 incher to be made on a good tv

Cant make it to a city this week or would have gone to look at them but figured I needed to make a decision before the best options were out of stock.

I got lucky and took a chance on the 40GX800 from their eBay outlet last week, £360.

Arrived looking brand new, cellophane still round all the panel edges, all accessories sealed etc. Got it in the kitchen where I found the Samsung 43RU7400 to be just a tad too big, not to mention glitchy picture on the WiFi on my HDHomerun and Plex, not a problem on the Panny.

You get what you pay for, I was ready to pay the £500 for the 40GX800, if they ever come back in stock anywhere. I would probably have settled for this though I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the picture quality is just not going to be anywhere near on the JVC... And 50hz... Oh dear.

On amazon as well but that's obviously online as well.

Dearer as well on Amazon, I see it's only £30 now, but was £50 up on elsewhere at £550 last week. I was wanting to buy it online...

Also no extra free warranty from Amazon, obviously there's 6 years at RS, but Panasonic themselves were doing 5 years from other retailers, I was going to get from Peter Tyson for £499, but they had them on back order, they reckoned Panasonic were getting them in on 18th Dec, and then however long it takes to filter through.

Anyway, I'm happy with the 1 year warranty from the eBay outlet for £360, there was 5% on TCB at the time and 300 nectar points towards next double up effectively makes it another £20 cheaper. Could also factor in the clubcard points for paying on Tesco credit card, all adds up for pizza and cinema!

How noticable is the 50hz going to be? I'm just after a decent 4k tv to replace my 11 year old Samsung.
