They also have a build-your-own Windows 10 PC kit. (Almost) a kids version of Heathkit, for those that remember those amazing days.

Would this be useful for an adult with zero coding experience and no kit? …Would this be useful for an adult with zero coding experience and no kit? I have wanted for years to learn the basics and have always found it difficult to start. Would this be suitable or is there an alternative way for adults?

IT field covers a diverse range of categories, just as someone might want to be a medical professional one day, you’d have to have a rough idea of what you want to be doing with your skills, whether that’s dentistry, an optometrist, a general practitioner or a specialist within a niche such as anaesthetics.

The most simplest way to dip your toes in, right now, is to open up Notepad and google a beginners HTML tutorial - this will teach you how to write a webpage using Notepad on your PC and introduce you to a basic framework of coding and syntax (aka proper grammar & punctuation).

Once you understand HTML to write up the content of a webpage, you’ll naturally progress into learning CSS syntax to style a webpage, manipulating colour themes and positioning of all elements. Once you’re comfortable designing and styling a webpage, you can then try learning more complex syntax such as JavaScript to add functionalities to your webpage.

There’s offers for free courses via Udemy covering most/all programming languages. You just need a PC and the time/willingness to learn.

Coding is just the toolbox, you need to be thinking about what you want to create first then you can work out what tools/language is best suited for what you want to achieve.

If all you have is a phone, look at Workflows on Android or Shortcuts on iOS - you can start working with logic, formulas and conditions to craft a useful ‘macro’ - a set of automated steps, ie take the url of a webpage from your clipboard, look for an element such as an image or video, and download it - either to your phone or straight to a cloud account like Dropbox. Automation like this is useful and practical if you are spending considerable time performing repetitive tasks. Another macro shortcut is a one button launch to get your current location and driving directions time home and have it all thrown into a quick text to the Mrs which reads “At {gps} - I’ll be home in 47 mins”.

Nice find...same price on Amazon if it helps anyone ref. Prime delivery and all.

Really wished I had one fo these when i was kit they are great.
Tempting...
Good price
Good price, wonder if they're selling these ones off with the raspberry pi 3 in before they bring out a variant with pi 4 next year?
Sat down with the kids at the weekend with one of these. They're great fun. We were 'hacking' pong to make the ball go faster on every hit to make it a bit more exciting to play. It was really easy to play with. Hardest thing was getting the thing updated but been OK since then. Quality bit of kit for £60.
Great first deal @BurgerBuyer keep em coming
Fantastic gift, not just for kids!

Great price, too

Great find ,, same on Amazon also
These are great little starter computers for kids, and this is a great price!
Not great reviews on Amazon...
A much more sensible price
brilliant, i've just ordered one via amazon for one of the kids for xmas.......thanks OP
Great find - fantastic little kits, plus well thought out software to cater to kids... especially when you consider the cost to buy a keyboard/mouse & other accessories on top of a Raspberry pi. Essentially, all you need is access to a tv/monitor and that's it ready to go.

Here's a little demo vid if anyone was thinking of this as a gift and isn't sure -

Also, I wouldn't worry about it being a Raspberry Pi 3... Its still more than powerful enough, particularly for learning on.
Have a first gen one of these and the kit is great. Have some heat

I'd guess you do have to factor (a) the tinkering/DIY element as its aimed at kids and its not guaranteed they'll have an adult who has troubleshooted these things (or the patience!) and (b) the original price was closer to the £150 mark which is quite a premium over just buying basic parts, so understandably people probably had high expectations to meet.
Love Kano, signed up for the first ones and they only get better with each iteration. Well worth it for anybody who fancies a tinker. And excellent for teaching kids to code etc
Bought the one with built in screen last Xmas for my 8 year old, loved building it, but was bored with it by jan, but this is 1/4 of the cost so heat!

Your parents had to build you when you was born created? 😋
Sorry OP, the mods will punish me for that.

There is lots to do and it can be used as a computer but the kids had to be interested. My 10 year old daughter has made music, drawings andsome games. She still uses it once or twice a week after a year. Best thing is that it is constantly being updated.
Good find. The touch version is down from £279.99 to £159.99 too.

kano.me/uk/…uch
Oh and the Star Wars, Harry Potter and Frozen kits are reduced too.
Wanted to get the Turin Tumble but it was sold out. Now got this instead, thanks!
Santa Kano last Christmas after my youngest asking for months. It didn’t make it to end of January being used. It sits in the living room gathering dust. Perhaps over Christmas it may get used.
Thanks OP
Any idea where I get the keyboard on its own?

Glad I held out for my girls Christmas present now - thanks!!
I went to a robot of a exhibit in London a couple.of years ago and one of these were on sale.
They are an amazing not of kit and I do suggest them.
This is a great deal!
Great idea for Xmas present. Heat given so now over the thousand!
I would be even better if you added an explanation of what the kit does.
Or you could just copy and paste the description of the product from the website.
Wel done though
