This is vastly cheaper than a HUE bulb though. The price difference is so huge that they have to be considered two different classes of device. (edited)

Best is to use any old WiFi router for all IoT works a charm with no loading on main router

So can this be added to an existing Tapo system?

Makes no sense for TP-Link to have two Apps for their two ranges considering they're essentially the same when it comes to functionality, not only that you need two accounts also. My only bugbear with their smart bulbs/strips and we have a house full of them.

They plan to "sort it out" by discontinuing Kasa. There are rumours that Kasa device support will be added to the Tapo app but knowing TP-Link they will probably never bother to do that.

I think the Kasa range will be discontinued soon and replaced with the Tapo range. When I spoke to TP-Link last year, I got the impression that the Tapo app would not support thier Kasa devices.

Have used both Kasa and Hue and paid £5ish for bulbs.

    Pros and cons
Kasa doesn't need hub, 1% dimming unlike Hues 5%.
Hue is isn't on off when overriding, Kasa you have to turn off wait then turn on.
But the kicker is I've had 2 kasa bulbs fail thst were a year younger than the hues.

Bought this a while ago, died within a month. Never again for this filament bulb

Buy one of the new 2.3w Philips bulbs and leave it on 247, it'll last longer than this and cost the same to run
