Truly shocking that after at least two decades of fluorescent type energy saving bulbs, hardly any lamp designer ever made a lamp specifically designed for them, and so as a result we are now seeing LED type bulbs having to ape the old bulbs which were made this way to hold a vacuum back at the turn of the last century.

Maybe the design is so perfect and well liked that it would be mad to change it? Afterall it has to be round to let the light emit in all directions!

100 Watts or 5 Watts ? the old ones were banned by the EU because of massively higher power consumption.
