The packaging says something being able to update virus database and program so I think you must be right.

I take it this is instore only as i cant find it on the web sight?

if you have a barclays current account you can get full kaspersky internet security 2011 free (3 license version)

if you bank with barclays ... you get it for free ... when you have finish down load ... you can go on to the main web site and you can have the 2011 ver hope this helps keep yopur £2.00 and put it on the lotto .....

U can upgrade to the 2011 version for free using this just simply download the 2011 trial version from kapersky website go to buy and then use the code u recieved with the 2009 version i done this months ago no problems

I saw it in store, to be honest I didn't even know they had a website...lol

Barclays sounds like a better deal if you bank with them. How much hassle is it to transfer accounts with DD and SO though?

Good deal but think I'll stick with my extended free trail of ESET / NOD32.

think i will stick with avg but is a great deal .

Barclays is an awful current account, but if you know anyone with the misfortune to have one they can grab a 3-computer Kaspersky licence for free, which they might be good enough to share with you.

Kaspersky had the misfortune of having their website hacked last week, and punters were redirected to a malware site...

yes ive done it

why pay for AV when there are plenty of free providers out there? oO

as other have said barclays do it so open a barclays account with £1 and get there freebie..

or computer shopper also doing offer 3 editions for £1 with free norton 360 for year for 3 pcs..

(£2 is still a decent price for kaspersky if you cba with the bank route..)

An ancient Woolwich account of mine morphed into a Barclays one a few years back, so actually came in quite handy for the last couple of years.

good point and also even though £2 is not free it nearly is...lol

Can anyone confirm whether these will update KIS or just the AV version.

Many thanks

These are for the AV version. I purchased the 3 user licence KAV 2009 recently for much more money. It's brilliant, and lightweight unlike all of those Internet Security products that drag PC's down (especially laptops with weaker processors and slower hard drives etc). I simply went to the Kaspersky website and downloaded the 2010 and 2011 versions. The licence number worked with these. Fantastic (didn't even have to put the disc in !).

by the time you have added your firewall and spyware program your resources are going to be just as much if not more than a security suite anyway...:)

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm in no hurry to update the KIS version I'm running so I'll bide my time to see if a deal for KIS comes up.

Does anyone know if the KIS 2011 version has overcome the Rootkit problem that the 2010 version has.

Nice.

For £2 it has got to be worth a try, especially if you can upgrade.
However...
I recently tried installing the trial of Kaspersky. The install scans for known 'incompatible' software and offers a list for you to uninstall before moving on to install the AV itself. I have had Comodo Firewall, which is listed, for a few years and wouldn't give that up for an anti-virus system that can't be made to work with my real-world system.
The actual list is quite exhaustive

What does AV mean? TIA

one thing to remember. kaspersky plays havock when burning dvd's. you have to turn it off otherwise you get coasters. took me some time to work that one out!

AV or KAV = Anti Virus or Kaspersky Anti Virus
KIS = Kaspersky Internet Security

KIS is an AV or KAV with 'extras'. A look at their website will tell you the difference

its never been a problem for me when burning dvds.
maybe your burning software conflicts with it or you're ready for a new drive

What burning software you using? Try Imgburn. Never had any problems over the years with burning discs and kaspersky.

And for the rest of you who want to know about upgrading to latest version:-

if you have issues burning dvds with Kaspersky running (I did with nero) just tick the boxes in the settings to not scan opened files (in the application rules for your burning program). This stopped my issues and everything is fine and dandy again. There is no security threat doing so as kaspersky still monitors the program, it just doesn't scan the files your burning which stops the "buffer" from going crazy causing the failed burn.
hope that helps.
