I wish Nod32 was this price, I hear Kaspersky is a bit of a system hog but supposed to be the most effective. Kinda tempted. Hot!

AVIRA is free and supposed to be quite light

defo a good AV. But title is wrong in saying cheapest yet-----The Works shop was selling these for 7.99£. There was a thread on this as well. Am not sure if Works is still selling at this price, but worth a check..

The Works were selling version 7....this is the latest version.

You can decide just to install the AV if you want.

To get it free from Barclays, you need to sign up online (any account will qualify). There is a link on the site re-directing you to the Kaspersky site where you get your free lincense.

Although I am a Barclays customer, I still prefer Avast free edition over Kaspersky..

The latest version is the one you download from Kaspersky and use with the key you get from whatever version you bought. Makes no sense to pay extra just to have more up to date packaging that you are going to discard anyway.

I'm using Kaspersky 2010 on a Vista PC and it's fine. I put it on an XP machine and it throttled it and I had to roll it back to 2009.

Version 7 keys do not work with 2010 (I have a month left on mine). And your right, I would not encourage anyone to update anything just for packaging etc either.

This is a good deal to anyone needing another years kaspersky updates and some added features for less than £4 a user.

Does anyone know if there is an "activate by date" for kaspersky keys (If I wanted to buy a second year to activate in 12 months) ?

For info a pretty good guide to all anti virus software out there -

]http//an…om/

You can download the latest software from Kaspersky.co.uk and buy an activation code from ebay.

I've done it the last three years for the 2008, 2009 & 2010 versions and it's only cost me about a fiver each time. In fact, this year it cost me $5 off this guy feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/…rue

This is not true ]according to Kaspersky. Version 6 keys will not work with 2010, but you can migrate from 7 or later onto 2010.

To upgrade, you will need to install the version you have, 7 or later, then install an update over it, which is obtainable from kaspersky.co.uk/pro…tes Just run the Setup Wizard and it will transfer your existing licence over to the new version it installs.

I should post this as a deal as I keep telling people in the comments and no one listens..

The 3 User, 1 Year KIS 7.0 is available for £5.49 in JTF warehouses, the code works fine in KIS 2010 (and gives you the full internet security if you want it or just the AV if you only want that for some reason)..

Im just gonna buy them all and shove them on ebay for a tenner next time im in there.

You dont even need to do that..

You can install 2010 and use the 7.0 key no problem whatsoever, ive done it 4 times now.. (and for info.. v7 boxes in JTF have a red sticker on them from Kaspersky themselves telling you you can upgrade to 2009, but i have gone direct to 2010 without upgrading..)

Does anyone knows if this is an oem or a retail boxed version?

I had to google as I had never heard of JTF. It seems it is a cash and carry (membership required) based in the North of England. So the £5.49 (ex VAT?) price is handy if you live locally, I suppose.

Cheers for this info - will give it a try. I raised a ticket with Kaspersky support a few weeks ago because the key did not work on a fresh 2010 install. The support technician stated that version 7 keys were incompatible but I will try the Update method.
