Why cold?

Because that is how some people like to spend their time ... clicking cold for no good (or informed) reason

Anybody who actually knows anything about AV software will know that this is a good deal.

you can get 3 user ones for £12-£13 on flea bay but if you only have 1 comp then its not a bad deal

perfect timing, my 6 month trial runs out start of January!

you can get a 3 user license for £14.99 using the 50% off voucher

Fleabay has problems in that you have to trust its not a copy or illegit.

I have Kaspersky IS 2009 and it's an absolute gem. Way less cpu intensive as Norton and less cluttered than McAffee.

Ran joint tests and it found more issues than the pair of them too.

£9.99 is a good deal. Cheapest elsewhere, shop wise, i could find was £12. Voted hot:thumbsup:

Quality product - excellent deal - hot

If you bank with Barclays you can get this free for 1 year

If you want physical disks on a 3 user licence cheaper, you can buy KIS7 for £20 delivered from PCWorld and then use the free upgrade to KIS2009.

Great deal. I wonder if I can buy it now and just use it when my current 1 year subscription runs out?

The deal with Kaspersky is that you buy a licence for 1 year. The software is always free and is never tied to the licence, unlike, say, Norton or McAfee. Even if you buy a boxed CD version you should download the latest version from Kaspersky and install that using the keys you bought. Therefore unactivated keys bought in 2007 will work with 2009 software and vice versa.

There will be cold votes from people who don't like the idea of paying for anti-virus software at all like myself who uses AVG and Avast. But I didn't vote cold as if you want to pay for Kaspersky because you believe it to be better then fair enough.

Is Kaspersky any good? My Norton subscription expires soon, am looking for something else.

Good deal for a good internet security suite. Remember the 15% Quidco too.

or you could get AVG for free:whistling:

AVG is rubbish in comparison to Kaspersky

I don't like this - it does too much, firewall is nothing but trouble.. I'd suggest looking at eset's nod32

or comodo do a free av and fw which seems to score highly

personalfirewall.comodo.com/index.

I've found too many PC's riddled with Spyware and viruses which use AVG. I normally install Kapersky and ZoneLabs to clear them out.

It could be down to the user clicking allow a few many times however....

Nice informed statement! If you think this at least qualify your answer.

Kaspersky has far better detection rates than AVG - pcworld.com/art…tml

Kaspersky uses one of the best AV engines available. In fact the engine that Kaspersky developed is used by several other AV software providers.

Norton is pathetic in comparison. Symantec Anti Virus only updates once a week. Kaspersky updates on average every 36 minutes with small 115kb updates instead of the usual 20mb updates fromSymantec and others.

I am a Kaspersky Certified engineer so of course I am a little biased, but I got my certification through choice as this is one of the best AV products on the market. AVG is the best available "free" alternative if you want my opinion. Although Kaspersky for Windows Workstations is a little better than the home user package.

does anyone know if this will also work in the German version of Kaspersky?

Kaspersky recently missed a keylogger on my system, knew it was there but repeated scans detected nothing. Installed the Free Version of AntiVir and it found it and removed it with no troubles at all. Had 1-2 issues with the firewall in Kaspersky silently blocking things as well, so switched to ZoneAlarm free edition and it works a lot better.

Still a good deal, but you can get better protection for free IMO

I nearly paid £40 for this last week, thank you.

Both Avast And AVG have been quite well regarded in the past, but their reputations have slipped somewhat over the past year or so. Personally, if you want a free AV, I would recommend Avira Antivir as the best available at the moment.

For informed discussion on security software I would recommend www.wilderssecurity.com.

For test results try www.av-comparatives.org or www.av-test.org.

Why dont you dont load a 3 month trial of bullguard internet security, www.bullguard.com. Then go to ebay and pick up a 3 user / 1 year license key for 8.99, 15 months for 8.99 is pretty amazing for a quality product.

sorry 2 months free trial, must have changed it recently

I just paid just over £12 for the 3 user package from ]Scan and as luck would have it it's just over a tenner right now on there ]Today Only specials.

Decent price direct from Kaspersky. I got a 1 user key on ebay for a fiver. Worked perfectly.

Cold from me. Like others have said, u can get free ones easy. Even IF the free ones aren't as good, a little computer sense makes up for it. Plus, u can get McAfee free for a year if you have an HSBC account.

Cold from me too. I've used AVG Free for years on all my machines and friends and family machines.

Never had any problems with any of them.

Hot from me... I got it free from barclays and will certainly pay for it when it expires if it's not available free... Excellent internet security IMO...

doesnt work when final checkout. the price still no discount?

never understand it when people say i have had no problem with free antivirus.....try visiting a dodgy website and then you will know what problems are

bought the 3 user version...current version runs until june so will activate the new version after 6 months. hope there are no problems with that.

Good deal if you are not tech savvy and need a foolproof solution, but if you have even a small amount of PC knowledge and don't just click "yes.... yes.... yes...." at every prompt then a free alternative (like avg free) will be better as it is far less bloated and resource hungry.

voted hot!!!! Best price ever, just bought myself a license, since I don't know when mine will expire (bought it off ebay a couple of months ago )

How do you know you've never had problems if its missed something? Not all virus's make themselves obviously known

Buyers beware I upgraded to this from 2007 version and it was a nightmare! The P.C locked up and it took all of the experts at Kaspersky to solve the numerous problems this version had caused. I reloaded version 6 and that runs fine, but I will not be upgrading!

Fair enough, but it is better than any of the free packages you mention!:)
