If you register for onlne banking with Barclays, then you can get a free copy.

if you have online banking with them , there is a link on the home page , bottom LH corner , says kaspersky offer.

Just to let you know, you can get this for $10 on ebay.com, you get the codes emailed to you.

The AVG free edition is a terriable anti virus, they even recomend not using their free edition, however back to the post you can get the same internet security for the same price from currys.

Very Good AV product. Actually had a meeting with their sales Reps who visited my work and gave me a free licence
Cheeper at Scan. OEM, so you may need to buy something else at the same time. Worth doing to get it over the £20 limit for the free shipping though !

Good price. Tesco had it for £23.97, but I got 10% staff discount.

AVG free version is no good,Kaspersky Internet Security is the best i have used, got mine from that famous auction site £19.99(3 user)

Using Kaspersky for the last month now, no problems at all. Picked up 3 user from 7 day shop for £19.99 but it's £33.99 now so that makes this deal Hot!

The link you provided is for 2009 version. This is the 2010 version for same price.
Mind you this is a single user license.

Kaspersky is the best. I have been using kaspersky for 3 years now and it never let me down.

I think it is worth spending a few quids extra for any reputed brand (compared to free versions) than letting a hacker get into my computer and steal information especially when most of us here shop online.

My link is for the 2010 version (even though it says 2009 on the box)..

Read the Scan product overview - the code provided can be used for the 2010 version.

You just download the latest version & use the activation code in the pack.

From that article you linked - here's what it says

'Online fraud

Phone, internet and mail order shopping account for over half of all card fraud losses, although the rate of increase is falling. The marked jump in online banking fraud is largely due to 'phishing', a practise used by fraudsters ... to divulge their personal security information by posing as online banks or businesses.'

But Antivirus doesn't protect you from phishing for example. really it's aimed at viruses. Other software can help against other malware etc.

AVG new version 9 released this past week, for users who want a new free option.

Who says KIS 2010 doesn't have anti-phishing feature? Thats the main difference between an AV and an internet security product for not just kaspersky for any other company. Internet security is not just an anti-virus it includes additional features to counter online threats (and thats why it is called internet security and not anti virus). Kaspersky Anti virus and Kaspersky Internet security are two different products. With regard to KIS 2010, please see the link below which states..

# Kaspersky Internet Security includes the URL scanning module managed by Web Anti-Virus. This module checks if links located on the web page belong to the list of suspicious and phishing web addresses. This module is built in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers as a plug-in.
# Monitoring access to phishing websites and protection against phishing attacks are performed by scanning links in messages and on web pages, and also by using the database of phishing addresses when an attempt to access websites is detected. You can check web addresses if they are included in the list of phishing web addresses; this option is only available for Web Anti-Virus, IM Anti-Virus, and Anti-Spam.

lol@ the ignorant on here, after all why pay for a quality product when you can have a pile of c**p for free:whistling:

£ 10.99 at Planet Gizmo + £ 3.99 delivery (city link). Total £ 14.98. So each license costs £ 4.99.

This is 3 user license (1year) for KIS 2009 but you get free upgrade to 2010 (latest version). (You can use the same key to activate KIS 2010 that you can download from Kasperky's website)....

There are cheaper products (key only) available on Ebay (US site) but I would advise you to stay away from them.

"Imagine if there was a billion dollar industry dedicated to selling you hyenas to control the badgers in your garden. Imagine that, even though there are no badgers in your garden and never have been, these companies told you that you needed to have a snarling, vicious hyena patrolling your lawn in case one should ever appear. And not just one hyena either, imagine they told you to add another hyena every month to provide adequate protection. And imagine that the hyenas were bad-tempered, smelly, dug holes in the lawn and chewed on your leg whenever you stepped outside. Finally, imagine that your garden was surrounded by a high wall anyway and the only way for badgers to get in was for someone to post them to you in a conspicuous badger-shaped parcel that you could simply refuse to accept when the postman delivered it."

The above says everything that needs saying about AV software

avg is good but isnt that great as it wouldnt install on my win7 pc

Avast and/or Comodo are both free and both good.

Also, if you're not already using it, McAfee provide a FREE 'SiteAdvisor' plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. It sits on the task bar at the bottom of your browser window and gives you a visual indication against every website you search for as to their safety and/or annoying practices such as dangerous downloads, spamming, misuse of personal information, browser hijacking etc. It really is a brilliant piece of FREE software and takes up hardly any processing from your PC. Definitely worth having as a little watch dog!

Hope that helps some of you.

I've been on-line for 10 years and always used FREE security software....I've never had a virus or been subject to Internet fraud. I think those of you who think you need to pay for it should visit some Tech sites and download the recommended Free software available and learn how to configure your PC's properly.

I got my Kaspersky free from Barclays and it locked-up my Internet connection. When I enquired with Kaspersky, they said their program is not compatible with other security programs I run (which I would need to uninstall). So, before you buy make sure that Kaspersky will run with your existing software. Needless to say that I don't use Kaspersky.

Consider that it's £8 each license (3 in all), I ordered it for me, my girlfriend and a collegue. We're paying only £8 each for the best Internet Security program around... so, voted HOT!

Lots of reviews out there that say it's not the best as it is a bigger resource hog than Norton....that takes some doing.

Even if it's really heavier than norton this still doesn't scare me because:
1) Norton got lighter in its latest versions compared to what it used to be
2) Kaspersky detects much more than Norton
I was a Norton user until Kaspersky became very well known (at it's 7th version), it impressed me imediately by its high standards of internet security protection.

amazing how many suckers have fallen for the virus-scaremongering.

More than viruses it's the malwares that are pleague. Then of course it mostly depends on the competence of the user. If you buy original software, use other web browsers other than IE, stay away from dodgy websites and applications you can be sure you'll be fine with a simple firewall. But can you really do all these things?

Don't call people suckers so gratuitously.

Good site for anti-virus comparision.

av-comparatives.org/ima…pdf

I am really amazed at how Norton made its way back up.

I disagree with almost everything you say apart from the user competence part
