This popped up on my Facebook newsfeed this morning. Pretty good offer I think. Kaspersky has been in the top 3 anti-virus/internet security products for the last 4 years that I've been using it.

Possibly down to £8.99 when you view the page you end up at after clicking wait a few seconds and then move your mouse outside of your browser windows and a message pops up offering a further 10% off if you checkout within 10 mins

Blurb from Kaspersky:

Good deal. Just make sure you disable the auto-renewal service before you place the order.

Click the link but wait a minute and a pop up will appear offering 10% off so it works out at £8.99. Once applied you do have 10 minutes to checkout. Oops just noticed it in the opening post

Barclays Kaspersky deal

Great deal. Do they email a code as ive still got 6 months left and want to save the serial number. Thanks.

Its ok. I got the code. Thanks vey much!!!

Not compatible with Windows 10 yet though.

Not compatible with Windows 10 yet though.

that is awful considering how long it was out in preview. bitdefender works great in windows 10!

Im on WIndows 10 Pro and it's working fine. In fact, I used my serial no. from Kaspersky Pure on Total Security and it works. Kaspersky actually recommended using Pure 3.0 serial to change to Total Security if you are having problems as I believe that Pure is the only one having issues.

Is it possible to buy a couple of licences but not activate them until later?

Thinking of getting a few at this price to see me over the next couple of years??

Does the year start immediately or the year doesn't start until you enter the code into the program?

oh no. I think it immediately starts the year when you buy it. I was just trying to buy it for later.....

I used the log in from the email to check my order and it says the renewal date is 1 year from now. So that's why I think the 1 year actually starts immediately.

Can anyone who has used this confirm that the year starts as soon as you buy it?
I have 5 days left of my current year and the renew I was offered was 37.50 how is this so cheap?

Could someone please answer this possibly stupid question. Can this be used on 2 pc's for example?
I ask because as I started the buying process it asked if I wanted to add other users, so it kind of muddied the water for me.

The 1 year starts as soon as you buy it. You have 5 days left in your current license so you are not losing much for such a cheap price.

You'll receive a code via email and you can just use the same code on 3 different pc's. I went through the buying process and didn't see any add other user option so I don't know what its about. But I have used this softball in the pass and you just need the code to use the product.

when you install it will use whatever you had left and then it says the year will start when your old licence expires.

You can use this key on KIS 2016 which is compatible and I've been using it for the last week on my windows 10

Been using on winwows 10 for 9 months. It works fine but scans take a long time.Barclays bank lets you use the key on up to 3 devices not 5.

Kaspersky currently under investigation for gaming the rating system over the years, by seeding standard OS files with code that other browsers flagged up, resulting in a large number of false positives that lowered the scores of rivals.
Only an allegation at the moment, but the sources seem reliable (ex employees and test labs)

It's coincidental that they are running a promotion on the day this news breaks: reuters.com/art…814

Beginning more than a decade ago, one of the largest security companies in the world, Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab, tried to damage rivals in the marketplace by tricking their antivirus software programs into classifying benign files as malicious, according to two former employees.

They said the secret campaign targeted Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O), AVG Technologies NV (AVG.N), Avast Software and other rivals, fooling some of them into deleting or disabling important files on their customers' PCs.

Thanks good find, installing it now - for £8.99, with auto re-new switched off.

Yes it is, and has since Windows 10 launch: blog.kaspersky.com/win…ity

You need to update to the latest version, but that's it.

As for the recent story about them gaming the system - the entire thing is a bit suspect. 2 Anonymous sources have made a claim, with no evidence, and no reproducible steps or even names of the alleged virus / malware which have done this.
I mean, seriously? You can't even *name* them?

Kaspersky have denied the claim strongly: theregister.co.uk/201…te/

Contrary to allegations made in a Reuters news story, Kaspersky Lab has … Contrary to allegations made in a Reuters news story, Kaspersky Lab has never conducted any secret campaign to trick competitors into generating false positives to damage their market standing. Such actions are unethical, dishonest and illegal.Accusations by anonymous, disgruntled ex-employees that Kaspersky Lab, or its CEO, was involved in these incidents are meritless and simply false. As a member of the security community, we share our threat intelligence data and IOCs on advanced threat actors with other vendors, and we also receive and analyze threat data provided by others. Although the security market is very competitive, trusted threat data exchange is a critical part of the overall security of the entire IT ecosystem, and we fight hard to help ensure that this exchange is not compromised or corrupted.

I'm calling BS on this until someone provides evidence.

The funny thing is, if you keep reading:

"In 2012, Kaspersky Lab was among the affected companies impacted by an … "In 2012, Kaspersky Lab was among the affected companies impacted by an unknown source uploading bad files to VirusTotal, which led to a number of incidents with false-positive detections," the statement continued. "To resolve this issue, in October 2013, during the VB Conference in Berlin there was a private meeting between leading antivirus vendors to exchange the information about the incidents, work out the motives behind this attack and develop an action plan. It is still unclear who was behind this campaign."

Kaspersky also got hit by this.
And let's not forget: reuters.com/art…217

Yep - Kaspersky were one of the main players in uncovering US Government espionage.

It's almost like someone is trying to damage their reputation.

Besides - even if this was true, Kaspersky was being ripped off by other vendors stealing their work. If other companies stole the signatures used by Kaspersky and then got hit by issues because they didn't do their own work, I have little sympathy.

But seriously - this is one of the best. It comes constantly highest on all the independent AV Tests. It's fast and very unintrusive. Really recomend it.

Why don't people just use Windows Defender, it's free! Just stay away from those dodgy sites and you'll be fine!
