Great TV, very good specs, very good reviews - 5 Stars @ What Hi-Fi

They want £850 for this in my Sony Centre, and the next best online price I can see is £629 - most places it is still £700 plus.

This seems a great price - it is only £15 more than the 32" version.

It was still £599 in my Sainsbury on Friday - also means you can pick it up and take it home.
It's a fab tv - I bought one

hot price for a great tv, now its just a case of whether to take the plunge now or wait for the new models......

Bought one yesterday when Sainsburys put the price back. Fingers crossed it is as good as everyone says it is

you wont be disappointed

interested, hot

awesome TV, especially if you have a decent HD source running through it.

I have the 40" version (paid £599 when the Argos deal was on)

This is cheaper than the buy in price (i work for sony) fantastic deal

Got one from Asda for £400 in October, very pleased with it. Only thing is slight backlight bleed in top right corner and at bottom by sony logo. Only noticable when no lights on in lounge and in a dark scene. Sony's are known for it.

Damn, if only the 40" was priced near this >_>

Am in the same boat as you. Think am gonna wait for the new model, which will hopefully fix the blacklight bleed. Ive also heard the 37" panels are different from the 32,40"+ ones. All panels use the S-PVA bar the 37", dont know why.

Is this TV better than the £599 Samsung in Argos per hotukdeals.com/ite…-99 ?

When I was shopping around for my 32" I compared Sony to Samsung.

Looking at them side by side, I preferred the Sony. But, plenty of people will tell you different.

You really need to take a look at both, and decide what is best for you.

Having said that, both TV's are excellent

Is it not best to wait for the Freeview HD to be built in to TV's?

Surely you'll need to mess about with Freesat or Sky HD with the current TV's on the market?

you make a fair point but then you can wait for the next bit of technology to come along forever. with that in mind freeview hd is already broadcasting in a couple of areas yet there are no set top boxes to receive it that are available to buy....the humax is due soon-priced around £170. it will be interesting to see how much manufacturers factor in the cost of the hd receiver.

back on the 'wait for built in hd freeview point'...the next thing we'll need is a freeview hd+ box to be able to record hd programmes! so you'll need another box anyway.

by the way! the sony v and w series are great. we had 2 with backlight probs, sent them back and the third has no probs whatsoever. sd is okay to good, but then show me big screen that is fantastic with sd. hd-what they are built for is stunning - especially thru blu ray.

I can't tell you if it is better, both have been reviewed very favourably, but I can tell you why I didn't go for the Samsung after having seen it in a store. The screen is glossy, whereas the Sony is matte. This may not be important to you, but a glossy screen can be very reflective with the wrong lighting. No one wants to watch a movie and see themselves reflected in the screen.

I agree with that 100%.

As to the person talking about waiting for this TV to include freesat, Sony already do a model in the same series with freesat built in.

At the sony store it was £150 extra.

Technology (in this area) is constantly improving, so you could spend forever waiting for the next thing to be released

Tightpants - "the next thing we'll need is a freeview hd+ box to be able to record hd programmes!"

You need one of the Panasaonic Blu-ray recorders - twin HD Freestat tuners, HD recording to HDD, and recording/transfer to blu-ray.

Cost as much as this telly, though!

lol - I was thinking of getting one for each room!

I bought this model just before Christmas from M&S for £600 (after Quidco) because they were doing a free five year warranty. We love it, it's a great telly and the picture is really good.

I've been hunting for a 37" tv for a while now, this looks a great deal.

I was wondering whether anyone has played a 360 (or PS3) on one and what the lag is like on games?

apparently the 37" doesn't have the backlight bleed problems like the 40" from what i've read. just a shame the usb port doesn't support avi, mp4 or mkv either which is another factor going against it compared to a 6 series samsung. shame the samsung is a fair bit more expensive

My other half plays his Xbox and PS3 through ours and he's never complained of any lag - you need a decent HDMI cable though.

Nice one - would love to have 'upgraded' to this set myself as well, but the missus, she say NO!

I see the price is now back up to £700! :w00t:

Spend ages re-doing my AV cabinet (finally got rid of my scart switcher and a lot of cables too), and it looks stunning. Only problem I have is that the TV does not seem to display in 720p/1080i/1080p with the PS3. Was quite late, so I didn't feel like swapping the HDMI cable, but I suspect that's dodgy. Was only a £1.75 ebay special, so no big loss, but annoying none-the-less.
