Argos have got some great deals at the moment and I think this one in their sale is another one, down from £799 under half price at £390.59.

I think it looks great and it's at a great price!

it is nice, if you're looking for something like this the price is ideal.

I'd be a bit worried about getting an Argos sofa to be honest after the deaths and injuries caused by the other leather sofas they sold and other stores.

A good find then  hehe

Indeed, I'm slouched in my suede corner sofa at this very moment.....with a tin of Quality Street (minus the green triangles and nuts thanks to the men in the family :x)

You seem to have the wrong picture in your post. The Keira only has back cushions along one side.

This is the pic on site?

can it go the other way around as it were? lol, cushion side to the right facing onto the pic?

can't find any additional seating to go with this.........

good price though if you just need this item on it's own.

lol im guessing so, i don't see why not

What Deaths??? People Had Reactions To The Chemicals Used In Them, but Deaths???? Unless You Mean The Cows!!!!!

The only problem i have with items like this are the fact that some come with inferior interiors ie polyester wadding and minimal foam. if the seats start sagging your left with a sofa that you'll find hard to repair and uncomfortable to sit on. looking for a corner suit but it would definitely have to come with removable cushions.

Not voted cold, but...

This looks terrible. I am not being snobbish about Argos furniture - I have two Argos sofas myself. This is quite clearly now selling at its correct price - if not still a bit too much. You can usually tell the difference between the low end and medium quality sofas that they sell. This is low end. It looks like the cheapest of leather sofas that several stores stock but with an extra bit jutting out that doesn't even have a back. In my eyes that isn't a corner sofa. As pointed on page 1 of the thread it is not the one in the picture that the OP posted!

Having worked within the sofa industry for many years, in both high-range and cheap companies, I can tell you that it is most likely what is called 'bicast' leather. This, actually, is the same as what the 'PU' leather is on the side. In order to be classed as leather within UK manufacturing and selling, it only needs to be 40% leather, the rest can be made up of man-made materials such as PVC.

This is why companies such as DFS and Land of Leather can afford to sell what they advertise as leather sofas for £300, whereas top-brand companies such as MultiYork and Sofa Workshop charge £1,000+. 100% leather hides, or cow skins, cost £250 upwards, and most sofa's of this size use 3-4 hides in themselves. Ask Argos what the percentage of leather is in their sofas, they won't be able to say 100% as it's not true.

In comparison, this is the same leather that is generally used within cars. Easy to wipe down thanks to the man-made materials within in such as PVC, but the dye will eventually come out or the leather will 'crack' or 'chip'.

If you're looking at leather furniture in-store, 100% leather will be warm to the touch, regardless of the weather you're looking at it. Bicast always feels cold and rather plastic-like. Also, if it has a shine such as this sofa, you can pretty much guarantee that it's not 100% leather. Since when have you seen a shiny cow?

Wikipedia on 'Leather'
en.wikipedia.org/wik…her
The following are not 'true' leathers, but contain leather material. Depending on jurisdiction, they may still be labeled as "Genuine Leather."
Bicast leather is a man-made product that consists of a thick layer of polyurethane applied to a substrate of low-grade or reconstituted leather. Most of the strength of bicast leather comes from the polyurethane coating. Bicast was originally made for the shoe industry and recently was adopted by the furniture industry. The original formula created by Bayer was fairly strong, but expensive. Most of the Bicast used today is created using inferior generic chemicals resulting in an inferior material. The result is a much stiffer product that tends to de-laminate, resulting in bubbles and cracking.

It's worth noting that the seats are fixed too, meaning if the padding, or springing underneath starts to sag or become uncomfortable, you will be looking at a good few hundred pounds for an upholsterer to come out and unstitch, replace and repair. At the price of the sofa, it'd be better to get rid and buy a new set in all honesty. Advantage is that you won't need to plump the cushions up, or find them sliding around all over the place as most cheaper leather sofas do.

Not a knock on the sofa, it's great for the price and I have voted hot. Just wanted to let people know the difference  I wouldn't purchase myself, but at that price for what you get, hot from me

the quality of that sofa just like the other ones they sell will be kak

I'm glad you're not on my jury - I'd be guilty before you'd even heard the evidence. :w00t:

The sofas that caused injury were due to a packet of caustic anti-fungal agent being stuck inside them, and were from as single Chinese factory, and you can be certain that Argos (who were not the main seller in this area - it was DFS/Land of Leather and another Company whose name eludes me), would not be still selling them.

I don't think anyone died, although several had horrible 'burns' to their skin.

As for quality - you gets what you pays for, they were not expensive at their original price, and are surely a bargain at the sale price, so don't vote cold because they may not be made from the hide of a cow that got daily massages and bottles of beer.

Agreed, this isn't a "Corner Group" at all, it's merely a 3 seater sofa with one of the positions extended to a chaise longue. It's still only designed for 3 people (it only has 3 back cushions), whereas a proper Corner Group will seat at least 5 in full comfort.

Are these the sofas that cause burns???

Hi bought 2 leather sofas from Argos for the conservatory a couple of years ago only thought they would lasta year at best
they a lot better than I thought they would be and are very comfortable
If my kids can't break em then they must be OK
I would by from Argos again with no problems

ps No burns to date!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks gr8 for a spare room or second sitting room but def not for your main room. This would probably be for the bin within a year if in regular use.

I paid £1500 for my corner group and had it for 8months still gr8. Hope to have it for another 5 years or so! Worth paying the extra.

Yep, a fella did die after recieving burns due to one of the aforementioned sofas.

hot deal, makes me laugh about moaning about quality i had 1 from dfs before and the quality was rubbish most leathers are cheaply imported anyway now so i will never pay alot anymore .

I'm itching to get an Argos sofa
