First time home buyer, first time furniture buyer. Looked around and Argos seem to be the cheapest by a nice margin at the moment on this Oak sideboard.

I know its not solid oak, but nothing is going to be solid solid at these prices? From what I can see its solid oak but with veneer fronts (read the Q&A's)

Anyway, if this is not a good deal.. please do let me know why as I need to furnish a whole house by xmas

Link seems to be broke for me. Here it is argos.co.uk/sta…htm

It's not great, I wouldn't buy it anyway. I've found Argos furniture to be rubbish.

Homebase price is twice as much. Reviews are good. Maybe I'm missing something..

Thank you for your reply. Always bugs me when people vote cold for no obvious reason. With this I can only assume its because it isnt 100% oak, but like I said above.. for this price?

Guessing your happy either way which is good to know

Did not know that.

I bought the tv stand and large and small bookcases a couple of weeks back whilst they were reduced at Homebase, paid about £10 a unit more than these prices unfortunately, but no complaints here, solid furniture that's well worth what I paid for it! No idea why people are voting this cold, it's a great deal for those that can get it! Hot from me!

I was looking at the Kensington TV stand too (Im guessing you meant the same range) though sadly am not sure it will fit into the corner until I get the house which is 4 days after the sale ends. Large bookcase looks nice too.

Normally I'd stay away from Argos furniture but these look really nice. As above, thanks for the reply.

Maybe that's why it's getting the cold votes, Argos furniture usually does.

Yes, same Kensington range, just from Homebase. I bought the large tv stand rather than the corner one, but the quality is great for the price you're paying! The shelves are the part that are not solid oak, but a lot of the companies that advertise solid oak furniture do the exact same thing, yet charge a lot more!

Actually, if you check your local area, you'll almost certain;y find a pine/oak shop with hand made stuff; you'd probably pay a little over £300 for oak - and you'd get to choose design details and exact size. worth the extra. But shop around; some lovcal stores are also ripoff merchants!

But this price for fakewood fall apart furniture is not a hot deal.

Some good (solid oak) well made furniture from here oakworthfurniture.co.uk which is built to order if you don't mind waiting a few weeks.
Be sure to go through top cash back thou to get 12.6%. Payment is 'paid' before you even receive the item! (_;)

I agree with this 100%

I can assure you that asides from the shelves, which are oak veneer, the main body off all of this range of furniture is solid oak, and it's certainly not going to fall apart any time soon! Really can't stand people who mark things down simply due to their own "opinions"

Just checked the Q&A again and it says

"I have checked this for you and the Kensington Large Sideboard has solid oak frame and top and oak veneer fronts for the draws and doors."

No mention of the shelves. Is it normal for the draws to be veneer when the rest is sold?
