My Kenwood microwave burst into flames and Kenwood/Currys just tried to point me at each other, even though it looks like Currys own them, they 100% were not interested.
It was a Kenwood K31GSS10 Microwave with Grill. I never used the grill and the MW was not used that much.

I bought it in July 2012. It randomly caught fire in October 2014. Luckily I was stood near it at the time.

After a long phone call with Currys/Pixmania they said I can't take it back as it was out of warranty (even though it was surely never fit for purpose) and as for flagging it up as a risk, to prevent something serious happening, they told me to contact Kenwood.

Kenwood Microwaves are produced under a branding agreement with Currys and they are responsible for all matters of pre and post sales. They are the guarantor of the product. Their contact details would have been included in the after sales section of your instruction manual. For advice or assistance in relation to your microwave please contact Currys Customer Service helpline on 0344 561 6263.

I even let it run outside in a "controlled" experiment on 5th November and put the video on Youtube, which they didn't seem to care about as it was gently burning away.

I'm sure there are 1000's of happy Kenwood owners out there and maybe mine was a dud, but as firms are constantly making things to reduce cost, I would personally not trust a Kenwood product as I have no confidence in them, or the follow-up support.

Firms react in different ways, I once had a Tefal iron that caught fire. They sent for it the next day and sent me the outcome of the investigation, along with a product worth 3x the price.

Currys pay Kenwood to use their name so always avoid Kenwood if purchasing from currys
