If you mean a large rectangular hole, that would presumably be the microwave waveguide aperture from the magnetron. Usually they have a mica waveguide cover to stop grease getting in, but I've noticed a lot of the cheap ones don't.
voted cold, as it is not really a deal: Currys always seem to have one or two of their "kenwood" branded microwaves on offer and the rest seriously over-priced, they just regularly switch the offer models to make it look like you are getting a really good price.

The one I paid under £70 for a couple or so years ago, is currently priced at £160, and this one looks very much like the model I went in to buy, but they'd just switched the offer model.

How about a 26L 900W microwave for £65?

That said, I still just bought the Kenwood :-P . My last microwave was a Daewoo, and I wasn't impressed with it.

So why put a link up for a Daewoo then?
And as for melted, he needs to take the 'ed' off his username.
My last Kenwood microwave rusted though in about 18 months.

That's after running a Sharp for about 10 years (back in the day when the Sharp badge was applied to Sharp microwaves only).

I really hate my kenwood microwave (see my comments here:) :- hotukdeals.com/dea…074?p=30752806), however fortunately for you it is not this model and the worse feature is the timer which is set with a knob. I think my last microwave might have been a matsui I picked up in Argos, was really good, cheap and lasted getting on for 20 years.

Here's a 25l 900w electricQ for £65 http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/eiqmw925solo/electriq-eiqmw925solo-freestanding-microwave-oven

I wouldn't buy it though, because it has a knob instead of a keypad to set the timer.

Probably better to pay an extra 10-20 for a proper brand, which kenwood isn't.

Or how about a 31L 1000W for £65 http://www.sonicdirect.co.uk/prod/Microwave-Ovens/Daewoo-KOR1N0A-Family-Size-Microwave-Oven-in-White-11-cuft

Anyway, I wasn't saying that 70 isn't a reasonable price, just that its normal price should be more like £70 and not anything like £149.

And the currys "kenwood" model I have has dropped from £160 at the time of this deal to £80, as predicted in post #4

I'm seriously temped to get one of these to replace it :- hotukdeals.com/vis…uft
The Daewoo looks naff but technically good. I prefer the look of the kenwood. Plenty to choose from on Currys.
Like you said they keep changing the model on offer. £80 is about my budget. Need more than 20l and 800W and no dials. Tempted with this currys.co.uk/gbu…tml
This is a £65~£70 microwave, not a bargain, but not a bad price either. It was no way a £150 microwave.
