Kernel King 340g peanut butter 59p @ b&m

340g jars. 2 for £1. Sometimes they have the 450g jars and no added sugar jars too. All 59p.

Kernel King is always not easy to find but it is Manchester's peanut butter. The labelling does not tell you what the different colours are but red top is smooth, brown is crunchy and green seems to be crunchier still.

Kernel King is made by F. Duerr And Sons Ltd, a company trading since 1881 who are based in Floats House in South Manchester. They also make jam, marmalade, mincemeat, mustard and mayonnaise.

Shame about the taste of this brand and the oil that floats on top

Peanut butter sandwiches dipped in a spicy curry pot noodle!! Yum yum. Heat added!
All natural peanut butter has oil, peanut oil, that sits on top in the jar . Just a quick stir to mix it back in.
Not seen this brand before, will give it a go if I'm passing b&m as I get through kilograms if the stuff!

Sunpat has added sugar! Kernel King has no added sugar. I'm using this for the last two years because it's regular in B&M. The only thing I find anoying that they don't mark on the jar whether it's smooth or crunchy.

This is my favorite brand (even before they renamed it from Duerr's) - I much prefer it to Sunpat. I don't rate Sunpat at all - I find it too salty. I don't recall ever having had a jar with oil floating on top either.

As others have said though, it's a pain that the jars aren't marked "crunchy" or "smooth". I've had jars with a red lid which were crunchy (which is what I wanted) and some that weren't. I've also seen white and blue lids. You can usually tell by looking at the contents but in the past if I've ended up with a smooth I've crushed dry-roasted peanuts and mixed them in.

Might be able to tell which is which in future (blue = smooth, red = crunchy):

    The correct rating is :

    1. Whole Earth

    2. Kernel King
    3. Sunpat
    4. Meridian
    Totally disagree.
Kernel king isn't skin on for a start is it?
Sunpat isn't great quality either and has added sugar?

I know that but until now Duerr's/Kernal King seemingly didn't!
I used to live near the Duerrs factory in Old Trafford. Closed now, but it was a lovely smell when they were making jam. Whole Earth is the best PB but this is not bad, better than Sun Pat.

TBH it's tastes great so I don't care.
It's not as it I eat it every day, I don't even eat it every week, that's why a jar lasts me for 5-6 months.

Skippy has partially hydrogenated fat in it so a definite no no!
    Which ONE is smooth?
I bought the red top but is crunchy.
They now come in plastic jars.
