Looking for a new shed and came across this. Seems to be higher everywhere else, like £660 at B&Q or £720 in Grey at Wickes.
Missed out on the £417 6x6 Keter Factor one a few weeks ago. Any views on whether it's better to hold out would be appreciated.
Info added by SebK:
Have the look of a wooden shed without the maintenance. Constructed from Evotech Composite, an advanced resin technology that ensures durability. It is fully weather resistant, so you'll never have to worry about panels warping, overlapping or cracking. Designed with convenience in mind, you can build your Darwin shed in just a few hours. No unique skills are required, all you'll need is a hand drill and a step ladder.

Lockable for added security (padlock not included).

sorted byThere's actually 44 4x2. I've already built one of the studs so not in the photo.
2 x 1.2 x 2.4 OSB as you called out, but 18mm not 9mm.
27 x 6m x19x125 (15x120) T&G.
Hadn't planned to insulate as it's basically just going to store a lawnmower and some cushions, it's in quite a protected spot.
It was £620 from a local timber supplier - very lucky to have a very price competitive and good quality supplier on my doorstep. TP was circa 15% more, B&Q/Wickes circa 30% more. They'd of all also been C16 instead of C24.
This is what I'm building FYI. It's a bit overkill, could of spaced studs more.
I have a Darwin 4x6 and rate it highly, that said only a couple of years old.
We were in B&Q walking around sheds and the wooden ones just weren't doing it for us, like some of the cheapest flimsiest fence panels connected together. Then we came across the Darwin and were really impressed.
I have the 6x4. It's great.
I did concrete the base down and put some plywood on the floor. That said, ignore the instructions. It will tell you to build a whole wall and slot it in. That's stupid - just build it one piece at a time.
No. Comes from a regional base. Can order to Northampton, but not Lancashire.
That’s ok if your a carpenter or have advanced wood work skills but the majority of us don’t and need one with instructions!
Besides this is a post for a plastic shed not wooden!!
Maybe near you, but not everywhere.
You should go to a proper company that supplied decent sheds, a and j supplied our 12 foot x 3 foot shed that is in a side access. Bought it 15 years ago. Just replaced the slats as they were rotting a little but the rest of the fence looks new. Pretty amazing seeing the punishment it gets with lots of 30 ft plus tres above, it’s in a concrete walkway opposite a garage wall, so lots of water splashing. I put a fence panel from b and q next to it as a temp measure and that lasted 3 months. The wooden sheds in all the diy places are garbage.
Buy a plastic shed to store that wood safely
Also is there any better one someone can recommend at the £400 pricemark?
I wish mine would cost that much
Oh the stuff in the 'Sheds' sic leaves a lot to be desired I'm in Phil's camp, but was tempted by the Keter for my mum, just wanted the doors on the long side unfortunately, That said are your T+G 6meter lengths Phil? if not you look short :P
Super easy
Hi Phil, so its 32 planks of C24 4x2 and two 1.2 x 2.4 9mm OSB for the roof. Whats the tounge n groove specification and what insulation are you using 100mm Celotex please?
The floor is like the top of a box of After Eights. Not sure plastic is worth this much?
That’s what I was thinking, I’ve built two 10 x 10 and insulated them for less, ones twenty two years old and I pitch the roof every eight years, the other five years.
I'd pay more for plastic over wood though. I've got two keter sheds now that are over 5 years old and so as good as the day I bought them. With wood I'd have had to stain or treat them which would cost over £100 to get someone to do. (I can't be bothered with stuff like that myself) (edited)
Plastic does make sense, especially in this perennially rainy country. I'm pleased to say that despite a some swelling in the roof lip where screws were put through (there is a lot of screwing, drill pilot holes), the shed is bone dry inside after a couple of days of rain. That swelling could be due to overtightening as the plastic is soft and it's hard to judge when to stop.
The downsides versus a wooden shed are that the upper half is a bit redundant - you can drill in shelving in a wooden shed but there wasn't any included, not sure if Keter do accessories, will need to check. I wouldn't be confident this type of soft plastic sheeting would stand up to any weight on a shelf though.
All in all, slightly expensive for plastic and I would have liked to see some rubber seals in there, but it does the job. Looking at the design I'm convinced the roof and base rims are holding water, but it's isolated from the internal wall. Would love something more solid, with this plastic as a facing!
Edit: just for clarity, I'm talking about the smaller Keter Manor Pent 6 x 4 (edited)
I’ll also be looking into whether there’s shelves available. I’m sure I’ve seen a photo of a plastic one slotting onto the wall somehow.
