Hmm a few bad reviews on this model (and other kidde models) and considering its function I think I might go with the one recommended by the fire service, even if it is twice the price.

... or better yet get the British Gas to fit several alarms for you, just as failsafe

Thanks for mentioning this. I ordered one here for under £15 so thought I'd share:

isn't that just smoke alarms?

carbon monoxide alarm

I refuse to be sucked in by this Prime nonsense. Amazon have lost so much business from me that they...........won't notice!

I would not trust ebay or third party sellers.

With carbon monoxide there is a limit, modern condensing boilers do give off carbon monoxide so does gas stove and fires, small amounts but it is there. I personally feel understanding the physiology, that the digital versions are more meaningful as it will show you a number, if less than 10 ppm no real worries (single digits), double digits get a gas safety engineer regardless and triple digits get out!!!! plus it will alarm.

The digital versions will also give a battery indication on top of your monthly press to test

There's nothing to not trust about eBay. Its the sellers on there that can or can't be trusted. Check their feedback.

Feedback can be deceptive, if they have sold 1000 items for £1 (to their family or friends), and leave the account dormant for a year it looks very positive. Then all of a sudden a whole bunch of fake items are sold. If you have time, ebay can be manipulated. I rather go for direct/prime-amazon when or a well known store where they will still likely to be in business in 5 years. If safety is not a concern than yes go for ebay and do all the checks of sellers before buying and ideally buy on Paypal via credit card or cashcard that allows chargeback so you have double protection

Ah thank you, I now know how to read and understand eBay feedback...

On a more serious note, and something that's actually useful information, chargeback cannot be used when paying via PayPal. Ask your bank

Not many people know of the small things to look for in ebay feedback and even more people don't care...

I did not know that about chargeback and paypal, thanks
