That's the one that I saw as well - didn't see one for £2.39 in my nearest store.

Heat added! A must for anyone with gas, sleeping near boiler etc. Save your life for £2.00!

Yup 8 in my local on a promo stand with smoke alarms next to them

Bargain price!

Wow. Great price. Essential product.

Does this protect adults as well or is it only for kids?

Not so in Leicestershire I'm afraid :-(

This is a crazy hot deal if its true, they don't normally sell for under a tenner, smoke alarms are always cheap or free but monoxide alarms are rarely cheap and never this cheap.

It may well be short-dated. Does anyone know what the typical expiry date on these is?

I just bought one yesterday at £8. It's says it lasts 7 years. Doesn't appear to have an expiry date as such. It claims the unit lets you know when it's expired by beeping I think

Theses are really handy for camping when it raining and you have to bring the disposable bbq in the tent.

The lifetime can vary between 5 and 10 years. These are essential not only for gas, but also oil and solid fuel. They should be as obligatory as smoke alarms.

Amazing price, if you can find any.

Also need to point out this is not a smoke alarm, some people might not know that.

Has anyone found one yet? They are £8 in my local store.

I think you need to move to within 15 miles of the existing Asda store in Hatfield

Theses are £8 reduced from £12 in my local Pershore store (similar to what other posters, apart from the OP, have found in their local stores)

So HOT, HOT, HOT for this Asda Hatfield deal!

Cant put a price on safety.... oh wait :O)

None in Maesteg at this price

I used to live just outside Bidford........ I didn't know Pershore had any shops!!

pardon my ignorance but where is the best place to fit these?

What idiot takes a barbecue into a tent

668 degrees, but only available in the Hatfield store? oO

Still, just reading in today's paper that over 50% of homes with gas appliances don't have a carbon monoxide alarm, so, as I'm included in that, I'll just have to bite the bullet and get off my jacksie and get one, whether it's £8 or whatever. Nice reminder at the very least OP.

£8 online as well

i got bought one for £8 a few days ago for delivery to store in Burton and can confirm that they are 7 years and batteries included. The advice for fitting and where is best comes in the box too. I recommend them.. i have 2 in our house already. £8 is a good price, but dubious about the £2 one.. i work in hatfield so may just go and take a gander...

Original Poster

to clarify these are not located next to the smaller £8 detector, these were on a promotional stand with fire alarms as well, in Hatfield this is located by the television aisle

£8 in Asda Motherwell, none of the £2.39 type in stock

try living on an island where you have to spend £30 on a 45min ferry to get to one!

Yep, a smoke alarm does not detect carbon monoxide oO

None at Asda Castlepoint

A must now as this has become law in Scotland for new builds and anybody having any gas appliance fitted or replaced.

This alarm won't satisfy Scotish regulations, which requires CO detectors to be mains-powered (with battery backup) and for the detectors to be wired together so that all alarms sound at the same time.

I just bought one from British Gas for 30 quid. This morning! When I was looking at alternatives on amazon there were lots of worries there around the models that had replaceable batteries as opposed to the ten year use built in batteries. I thought best play it safe and get from my gas provider. Although I imagine I am likely paying over the odds.

The BG ones are one of the best on the market, they also come with a 7 year warranty so if it starts making random bleeps in 6 years time they will replace it free of charge, at least then you will get 2 for £30

This is the time of year for CO Poisoning, boilers been turned on for first time, birds nest in flues, unserviced boilers etc, and when you get CO Poisoning you think you have flu - headaches, dizziness, nausea, breathing problems, same signs and symptoms.

Please don't put a BBQ in a tent as it displaces the oxygen and as your body prefers CO rather than oxygen you could die.

I have two dual CO/smoke alarms monitors one upstairs one downstairs, change batteries every year irrespective if they need it or not, just use the old batteries for Christmas toys or remotes etc.

Cold, wish people would stop voting hot without looking for these store specific deals wi!
