£11.34 for smoke and CO detector from LEC

The smoke detector is ionization only so it will be poor at detecting smoldering fires. Will still save your life though.

Outside of the cupboard not near a window or door and if I remember exactly it's 150mm (6inches) down from the ceiling

Just ordered one from amazon if anyone is interested. £12.00 on prime, Life Saver Carbon Monoxide Alarm.

Better still, follow the instructions...
Install the alarm more than 2 metres from fuel burning appliances, and ideally no more than 4 metres away.
If wall-mounting, install at eye-level (approx 1.5m), and at least 30cm from adjoining walls or ceiling
Do not wall-mount within 30cm of the ceiling as this is a “dead air” space.

Not the same thing?.

Plus your 'job lot' is more with a mini Commercial Kitchen in mind?, the OP's is for standard Home Use only? (mainly anyway?), lol. :-)

Heat. These are so important especially if you have a boiler placed in the kids bedroom. Also if anyone is worried about breaking up a £20 check out the rocket league deal gaining tons of heat today

If anyone is a COSTCO member, these are on offer there for less than £9 each.

Worth taking on holiday too. You never know how badly maintained boilers are at that lovely holiday home you are staying in.

Ummm. Carbon monoxide detector built into your phone. Now that would be a feature I would like to see

Ordered heat added. Thanks

That's insane. I wouldn't want to go a single day without one of these, so whilst I like a bargain as much as the next guy, potentially saving a couple of quid on one of these shouldn't stop anyone from going out and buying one today. It really could just save your life, bargain or not.

If you do not have one, buy one now. Literally now. Buy it and put it up today.

An essential item thanks OP. If you do not need one instantly then they have been under £10 each in previous deals eg at ASDA and Amazon.

When I click to collect from any of my local stores the alarm changes to an older looking round one. Anyone having this problem?

Probably about time to renew mine (they have a finite lifetime). Cheers OP.

Bought it, thanks op.

Is this in store only? I cannot find it online

Is it worth the extra to get the Kidde Carbon Monoxide alarm with a display?

You have to laugh at the following question and answer on the Argos website:-

The spec says that the sensor will last 6 years but the manufacturers warranty is for 7 years. How does that work?

Hi Stuart,

I have since looked into this and can confirm that this device has both a 7 year manufacturers warranty and a 7 year sensor lifespan.

I will get this amended on our website.

Thanks for using Argos Q&A.

Still not changed.

Or real fire, wood burner, or you live in a terrace, joined property.

Carbon monoxide sinks, so doesn't have to be up high like a smoke alarm
Keep near appliances that may give off CO like boiler

Carbon Monoxide is slightly lighter than air so it will tend to rise, not sink.
